This school is top notch. Highly dedicated teachers and support staff and the principal Dr. Knox is in a league of her own. Everyone I encounter thinks very highly of this school. I feel very fortunate to have both of my boys attend here.

I love being a part of a family centered school. White Oak has been our school since 2003. I have three children that attend and we love this school. The parents are friendly and help out with the variety of our events. The teachers are all great and work together to make our school run smoothly. Our new principal (of 1 1/2 years now) is fantastic! She is a great listener and runs our school beautifully. I love the fact that our school is a family school and tends to have events that the whole family can enjoy such as astronomy night library night magic shows and more. We also have a great PTA. Cant say enough about White Oak.

White Oak is one of the best elementary schools in the district. Some schools in the district have higher scores but most of those schools get to pick and choose their students which creates higher scores based mostly on their demographic and not because of what is happening in the classroom. Don t be fooled. The administration and staff at White Oak are committed to the advancement of their student population and carefully examine the individual needs of each student in order to promote success. My student feels an amazing sense of family and loves going to White Oak and learning.

My wife and I are very pleased with this school. Parent participation is high and the staff at the school are very involved. I was hesitant to send my child to public school but this school has surpassed all expectations.

I am so happy with this school. The K-2 class at White Oak has given me a new hope about public school. I am very pleased to read the disappointed review (Jan 18) because it shows that the staff at White Oak won't be pushed over by some ridiculous parent who wants to send her child to school with no regard for what is proper and promotes a learning environment. The staff is wonderful and the parents are really down to earth and nice. There seems to be a lot of parent participation too. I like that kindergarten has homework and requires parent participation. School is not a daycare or a babysitter; it's a place for learning and setting values. I think White Oak has done a great job doing this...very similar to how some of the private schools I looked at operate.

A California distinguished school but I feel not worth that title. They push students a lot send them home with an awful lot of homework (2 hrs a day even K has homework) and generally go to fast. I am not just saying that because my child has a hard time keeping up but because half the class is at risk for retention and recommended after school tutoring. If I could do it all over again I would not enroll my child at White Oak.

Was very disappointed in the Staff at this school today my son went to school last week with his fau-hawk not a true mohawk from front of head to back of neck and there was no problem. His hair may be about an inch long mind you. So today January 18 2011 i sent him to school with the same hairstyle but with a little green gel in the spikes and they wanted to send him home? They said HIS HAIR was a distraction and "it was up to their personal opinion what is distracting" not what was stated in their student handbook. So i asked if they had crazy hair day where everybody wears their hair in a distracting style and they said yes. So it is not distracting when every student has colors and weird ponytails or hats etc. then the principle tells me it is their policy to have your child well groomed.which made me feel like she was stating my child wasn't because of OUR choice of hairstyle!

My daughter loves her teachers gets the learning she deserves and she is 2 grades ahead in almost all her subjects. She does her homework and is very responsible with her goals in school. Also I went to this same school as did my brother and we loved it too.

My daughter started kindergarten at White Oak this year. White Oak was not our original school of choice. We entered the lottery for Vista Fundamental and really wanted to send her there. Needless to say our number was too high and we didn't get in. White Oak was our neighborhood school and we could not afford private school. All I can say is God works in mysterious ways! White Oak is awesome! The teachers are awesome. Mrs. Estrada Mrs. Frederich Mrs. Rosales and Mrs Chisolm (great teachers!) They work with each student and put them in groups and let them work at their own pace. No pressure.... only an environment that encourages each child to thrive. My daughter is reading 1st grade level books already. Even the yard duty supervisors know my daughter by name. A great school. Great parent involvement too! I'm proud to have my daughter attend White Oak

I tried my luck with the lottery at Vista. And with luck on my side - we didn't get in. I have had the best experience at White Oak. My children have had the most loving caring teachers. They have loved every minute of school and adore their teachers. I am part of the PTA and have met some of the most amazing giving caring women! The White Oak parents are involved and truly care! Then there is Mrs. Pekrul - she is an involved loving caring principal that (somehow) knows each child individually! -dlp

I have three children at White Oak and am very pleased with the teachers principal and parent involvement. The parking lot during drop off and pick up can be a mess but is safe.

This is a very good school that both of my children have enjoyed attending. They give great personal attention to each child and have a well-rounded curriculum.

The best part of this school is the parent involvement. Without so many parents available every single day many of the extra activites would not be possible.

Very good. quality teachers above average parent participation.

I am a 6th grader at White Oak and I'd like to acknowledge my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Chisholm. She really helped me exel in Math. I used to never get it but she helped me understand the concepts really well and I'd just like to thank her for that. - Christie Morgenroth 6th grader at White Oak

White Oak has excellent parental involvement with a wonderful kindergarden teacher named Mrs. Ibbott. She's reliable thoughtful conscientious and extremely fair. My experience overall has been positive. The only things I would like to see improved are additional play areas with upgraded play equipment more supervision during recess and lunch to reduce injuries better parking so visiting/volunteering parents don't have to park in the street and a longer school day (for kindergardeners) to incorporate History and Science into their curriculium. Mrs. Prchal is top notch.

I currently have two children attending White Oak and could not be more satisfied. I have been pleased with the progress each has made and am looking forward to having my third child be a part of this school. Parental involvement is strong which is the foundation to having a successful learning environment. Although White Oak is one of the larger schools in Simi Valley I wouldn't consider going any where else! White Oak is especially lucky to have a teacher like Mrs. Modell who gives so much to her students and parents. While preparing for an evacuation during the fires of 2003 my Mrs Modell treasures were not to be left behind. There are many other wonderful teachers at White Oak Mrs. Modell happens to be extraordinary!
