My school is fantastic because staff connects with the student body they are always there when you need extra help and one of the things that seperate Sleepy Hollow from other school is a strong belief in community I am an eleventh grade student who is truly luck to be part of this school besides teacher and staff that are alway there for you academically and personally; teacher are outstanding and they really do know how to teach they teach with passion instead of just assigning text book work sure they do assign textbook work but after the work we have a deep discussion about the material we read. I think one of the reasons Sleepy Hollow is such a great school is because our teacher and staff have deep passion for their subject which they deflect onto us. They want to shape our mind and influence us so that one day we will carry on their morals. We were recently awardedd MetLife Ground Breaking school award which I couldn't agree with more. Personally i struggled in an AP class which i didnt know if i was cut out for but because of my councelor i continued and I'm very happy with her advice. No signifcant learning can occur without a signifcant relationship.

We have the absolute nicest students (and staff!) in the world!
The student body and faculty are amazing... it is a place with lots of positive energy where every individual is respected by and respectful of others... there is a very strong academic program along with great student activities arts programs and athletics. Go Hollow!
Sleepy Hollow High School provides a strong academic foundation and diverse social and cultural experience.
I've been lucky enough to work with the science teachers on a project to benefit children in the elementary grades and their enthusiasm has been amazing. The younger children are all looking forward to when they get to go to Sleepy Hollow High!
This is my daughters first year at SHHS and she is having an amazing time. I feel very secure that she is getting not only a great education but during the next four years she will continue to grow as a responsible caring individual. The entire faculty are together in their goals...to teach not only academics but also respect of self and of others. The programs the school offers whether in arts sports drama or any of the other activites are so important and well organized. I am completely happy with the choice we made to go to Sleepy Hollow High School. Go Horsemen!
It is an ethnically and socio-economically diverse school that revels in that diversity offers a great selection of AP courses has excellent music theater and art caring and creative faculty caring administration committed parents something for everyone!
SHMS is an excellent school. All of the teachers are very welcoming and caring. They work with you to create a goal for you to reach. The Honors classes are great. They are fast-paced and challenging. SHMS has a varitey of extra curri-activities. There are many clubs to choose from (newspaper yearbook extreme games club movie-mania Math Counts art club etc.) Not only do they focus on the studies but arts music and sports. The music program is outstading and the choices of the art classes are too. There is a strong focus on sports. This is an amazing all rounded school with a very postivite outlook.
I agree with Cary Gerber (a man I know and like!). We have two daughters -- one graduated from SHHS and got into an excellent college and one is currently a Senior there. The AP/honors programs are good and there were many students from my older daughter's grade who were admitted to top-tier colleges
I would not recommend going there. Classes are over crowded.
Sleepy Hollow High School excels at providing a quality education to a diverse student body with varied educational needs. Class sizes are kept small to help insure personalized attention. A caring and knowledgeable guidance department works with each student to place them in the most appropriate yet challenging courses. Many AP and enrichment choices to choose from. Great music/large selection of arts programs. Sports too. Teachers coaches staff administration are caring and dedicated. Very involved parents although not reflective of the diversity/demographics in the community. School is responsive to the requests/needs of students. The PTA and Foundation are very active and advocate for or fund additional extracurricular activities for students. Many clubs available. School fosters and encourages leadership ability among its students. Community Service an integral part of the educational requirements.
I felt the quality of most academic programs were fair to good. There was little evidence of parental involvement. The greatest emphasis on extracurricular activies were in sports. One issue for any prospective parent to be aware of is that there is very little accountability for students who violate rules. This includes unexcused absences being tardy being abusive to teachers school violence etc. One of the most problematic issues I noticed was that students seemed free to 'come and go ' leaving the school grounds at will with no formal sign-out. Many chose not to return.
SHHS and SHMS are both very good schools. Academics are excellent at the Honor's level(that's what I am familiar with). As far as the whole school outlook I think it is very positive in general.
