St. Francis Solano School - overall the school has a lovely community feel. We love the buddy system that is incorporated throughout the school curriculum. All the way the students support each other - I have seen nothing like it from any school before. As a previous parent has mentioned the 2nd grade is poorly run with a very unorganized teacher who although means well isn't able to stimulate the advanced students. The principal is lovely but unfortunately lets it up to the parents to fight their good fight. I would love to see her step in more and play the leadership role she can. Kindergarten and 1st grade where excellent although I do question the amount of minders allowed in one class and am concerned moving forward about the numbers. This school is so lovely that it could really be even better.

Need I say more! We love St. Francis!

Our school is Saint Francis Solano in Sonoma. There are good teachers mixed with some unbelievably poor quality teachers. Getting thru second grade last year was devastating for most the students as the teacher was simply incompetent academically (literally couldn't teach 2nd grade curriculum) and professionally (students were diminished by her). Sadly our child had the same teacher twice as she moved up from kindergarten. Compare that with another one of our children who missed her and has blossomed at the school. I can't warn parents enough to avoid 2nd grade I'd even suggest they pull their kids for a year and come back. Otherwise the environment is safe the children are respectful and the parents are very involved and good willed.

My family loves St. Francis. My three children count St. Francis as their second home and part of our extended family. The campus is safe the teachers and faculty are all professional and give so much to the school. The parent volunteers are equally as giving of their time and their level of commitment is outstanding. Everyone works really hard to make St. Francis a great school for our kids. My oldest daughter who is now a freshman scored in the 90th percentile of 9th graders in the country. To me this a testament to the school and all the skills she acquired as a student at St. Francis Solano. Also as a parent I have met some of my closest friends at St. Francis. Families who will be forever friends to me and my family.

St Francis provides my children with the best overall quality eduacation in a superior academic spiritual and social environment. St. Francis has a proven track record of challenging its students in the classroom as well as providing them with opportunities outside the classroom and beyond the town of Sonoma in sports programs science fairs art/writing competitions geography bees spelling bees Academic Decathlon etc. Students who have graduated from St. Francis have gone on to the local high school as well as Marin Academy Cardinal Newman/Ursuline High School Justin Siena High School and Sonoma Academy. These students have gone on to excel at colleges including Stanford West Point and many of the UCs. St. Francis provides a nurturing environment to all its students and my children would not dream of going anywhere else!

I went to St. Francis and I strongly believe I received the best academic education available in Sonoma. I could not have been better prepared for high school and college. I remember loving each of my teachers and I always felt loved and supported by them. Now I am married and have two little ones and can look at the school from a different viewpoint. Not only do children love going there but the teachers are dedicated and have excellent educational backgrounds. While my husband is not Catholic he also agrees that there is no question where our children will be attending school in the near future.

I have been a part of St. Francis Solano School for the last 29 years and I love it! I entered St. Francis Solano School as a first grader and I can honestly say that St. Francis gave me the educational foundation to be a very successful student both at Justin-Siena High School and at Dominican University. My prayers were answered when I was hired at St. Francis fresh out of college. As a teacher I am blessed to work with such dedicated administration and colleagues. We have a strong and challenging academic program in an atmosphere rich in Roman Catholic values. All students have opportunities to take Music Computer Spanish and PE on top of core curricula based on the California State Standards. My three children have learned moral values and strong study skills at St. Francis. This is the school for your child. --Michelle Momsen alumnus teacher parent

We love St. Francis Solano School. We transferred after three years at a local Public Elementary school. No longer does my daughter come home after school with stomach aches. The staff is communicative dedicated and involved with parents and students. Academically my daughter is excelling and is finally challenged by her studies. I am awed by the after school sports program. The children are taught the importance of being a member of a team sportsmanship and they have fun. The parents group is awesome with involved and dedicated parents. We made the right choice when we transferred to St. Francis.

As a SFSS parent I am very thankful that my child receives the challenges that a student should have. She is given respect and encouragement. Positive enforcement that helps her gain self esteem a child can ever have. The child walk very proud. The staff are unbelievable. They look at my child as a person not just a number. That means a lot to me because it shows they care. My child has a choice to go to another school and her comment to me is ' Mom this is my family right here at St Francis I don't want to go anywhere else.' Saying that out of the mouths of babes. I am very active in the school volunteering in whatever is needed and I love it. I wouldn't change it for nothing. Thank you for giving us this chance to share. Yours truly a very proud parent of St Francis Solano

I have been a part of St. Francis Solano School as a young child and student. I only have the finest memories and knew someday I would have children and have them attend this great school. I do have three children now. Two whom have graduated from St. Francis and another attending now. I still after 35 years of involvement as a child and as a parent have the greatest feeling about the education and security my entire family feels because of what we received from St. Francis. My children received the best education that could get in Sonoma. The school enhances family values and importance of education. I feel we have a great group of parents working together and wonderful friendships we all have retained for life. I am truly blessed to give my children the best.

We have been at St. Francis Solano for 5 1/2 years and can't be happier. The teachers are absolutely fabulous...they are all unique and different...two of the male faculty play basketball in the mornings with the students before school - that is the camaraderie I love. Not only does the school teach respect and love it shows it to all...our kids come home and we have the most amazing philosophical questions provoked by their learing in school...this school practices what it preaches and has a Peace and Justice elective for the older kids - they pick where they want to help out and do fundraisers giving money to such areas as curing AIDS etc.. The kids are safe have fantastic sports programs as part of the Catholic School Diocese learn peace love and understanding - all in all a great experience!

I have been very pleased with the quality of education my two children have had at St. Francis. The teachers are outstanding and the family community is very active and supportive of the students curriculum and total environment at the school. The school supports and encourages parent participation in the classroom and in fund raising for the 'extras' every school wants to supply to their students. We have been very successful for many years providing the 'extras'. My son is graduating from St. Francis is year. However I look forward to the next five years that my younger daughter will be attending. This school is a very good fit for us. We were looking for a high quality of education for our children in an environment of support and moral values. This was the school for us.

My husband and I are thrilled with the incredible education our two children (8 and 10) have received at St. Francis. They are bright articulate outgoing children who have flourished at the school since they began there. As parents we are allowed to volunteer for anything we want to do and have the rare opportunity to see both our kids in their learning environment on a daily basis. The leadership and staff of the school provide us with everything we need to properly guide our children through their grammar school years and we have met nice children from families that will be lifelong friends. I would recommend St. Francis to anyone living in or moving to the town of Sonoma as a great school for their children.

We are especially happy with St. Francis Solano School. Our children are not only getting the best possible academic and religious education available in Sonoma they are being taught in a safe loving and nurturing environment. Teachers are dedicated and extremely qualified and the students are respectful and polite. The arts library fundraising and parent volunteers are truly inspired. The after school sports programs promote leadership and teamwork. Our principal is quite dedicated to the success of St. Francis in it's ability to provide outstanding academics in a faith based environment. This is evident in test scores that are well above the national average and in our students' many academic first place awards in competition. But most importantly my children are thriving and happy at St. Francis Solano School!

Overall we are quite happy with St. Francis Solano school. The teachers have impressive backgrounds and are very dedicated to the students and parents. The parents at this school are very devoted and have created a nurturing wholesome and well rounded environment. The parents club is absolutely amazing with what they have accomplished. The students are outstanding. I think they are proof that this school is a success. They are kind courteous and well-rounded individuals. My one disappointment has been the apparent detachment in the leadership. I feel the principal could put forth a greater effort to be more in touch with parents teachers and the studensts.

Saint Francis Solano has great potential however there is a lack of leadership which gives teachers a low morale. When the morale is low it is difficult for the teachers to be inspired. The parents are amazing and are up to any task given. The children are wonderful.
