California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

I have a 4 year old that started his first day at this school I worked that morning but got out one hour after he was in class because his babysitter forgot to take his blanket and pillow with some paperwork. So I went to the main office and explained I needed a pass to take these things to the teacher and the lady was kind and started to make me a pass when from within a room I hear a voice yell " no he can't go ""we will take it " then I said that I would like to take it myself to stay and help out as his teacher said I could in which I hear the same voice from some room saying that no you cannot. I asked who was that answering from a room and the clerk said it was the principal. I don't think that w as professional nor appropriate

Excellent place to learn and teach with the newly formed Administration. The school is moving forward steadily. This will be a great school in the future! We encourage plenty of Parent participation and join our great Parent Center group. Overall a great place to teach and learn for our students!

My three children attended Victoria Avenue from 1999 thru 2005. Their Pre-K is absolutely great! The teacher is what makes it so fantastic. Every year many parents hope to get their children enrolled in it. Overall I believe it is an average school. I personally ran into some problems with the faculty but as soon as I began to volunteer and literally let myself be known things got better. There are teachers unfortunately that are not as good but there are some that are great. I really like that the children can stay after school and play or be in the Carney program. When the 2005-2006 school year began my children were moved to the new elementary school on Tweedy and State because of the new school boundaries. A month into it we moved to Irvine CA. *My ratings are based on the last school year my children were in.

This school has been great. My son missed his teachers and they have been great to him. He's now in middle school. There is a DARE program and it's remarkable for those kids to learn to stay away from drugs and gangs. All those subjects are up to date and perfectly for those kids to learn. I hope they will continue to provide the learning tools for them and to continue to use the DARE program to help make them the better people in the future. Victoria Avenue please continue to do your best and I am really happy.
