As a former student of this high school they have great general education courses and clubs to keep a student occupied but if you have a gifted child who has some sort of mental/learning disability then this school is not for you due to the fact that they do not know his or her learning potential and thus will hinder your child's success . If a child with said disability Does not feel challenged by his or her special ed classes and want to move into an advanced course with help he or she will not only be denied the education he or she needs to succeed but will told that they cannot do this said class because of this disability and thus shows on alot of students in special needs classes through low self esteem due to this issue . Also if the special needs student and/or parents disagrees with theirs practices they will make you a target and the parent and student will go through challenges during his or her school career. Overall the general education portion is not bad however they need to drastically improve there special need program to aid in student success.
Good school as far as choices for sports and clubs and the availability of teachers to provide extra help to students before and after school. However there is an apparent lack of attempts on the part of the school to forge good relationships with parents who are new to the town and/or minorities. Another downside is the school's touch disciplinary tactics which are unfairly harsh at times. My kids also complain about poor school spirit. And the school could do more to prepare students for college i.e. field trips to colleges and universities.
Wow this school is amazing. I'm a freshmen and so far this school is very good in standards. I'm impressed. GO TIGERS!
I think some of teachers don't care about the student unless they are a straight 'A' student. I don't like the school much but it is my opinion. I think South Plainfield has great elementary schools only.
My son graduated this year with honors and we couldn't have picked a better school for him to go to
South Plainfield high school is a very good school. There is one area that I feel they fail horribly in this is its relationship with the minority students in the school and their parents.
As a student at South Plainfield High School I am very proud of the School. It is a great place for education activites arts and sports. The teachers really care about the students and their grades in the class. There are many things to be part of at the school. It is a great place to be part of.n Like they say South Plainfield High School is Middlesex County's best kept secert. I love it! Go Tigers! Constance Flanagan class of 2008
The academic programs are great as well as the out of school activities.
Great teachers. Great students. Period.
According to me I feel it is a great place to put ur kid for some quality education. I was a student there for three years and I moved from a different country. But I felt the quality of education and the staff is just incredible.
