The Principals at Southaven High School really care about the students. They make every effort to acknowledge good behavior as well as handle problems when they arise. The teachers genuinely care for the students both inside the classroom and outside as well. I have nothing but good to say for the Staff Faculty and Administration of Southaven High School!

SHS is the best school in Desoto County for my children. The teachers are great during school hours and after school with the students. There is such a bond with the Faculty Staff and Students. What a joy it is for me to work with this school and watch my children become productive citizens. Go Chargers!! What awesome Principals who can call students by name and who are always in the halls making sure students are learning -)

Wonderful school! Great teachers and administrators. I feel that my kids are always safe there. They have a Zero tolerance for any type of bad behavior. I wouldn't have my 3 kids at any other school in the distric!

I think and know this is a great school for teenagers. It is a wonderful place for kids. The teachers and principals do a wonderful job!

Have had four children graduate from SHS. Would put any other children there if I had any. Administration is great teachers are wonderful helpful and have a sense of family and make the students feel that way. I love SHS. The administration and faculty care about what happens to the kids now and later in their lives. They know how to prepare a kid for college and want the students to leave SHS prepared. Thank you SHS.

school ok. too many fights. dropped from a level 5 to 4. Have a dress code but poorly enforced. teachers good and help students when they need it. new building too. principals needs to get tough with these kids who goof off and needs to stop the bullying. my kid won't eat lunch because so much bullying. education seems good but culture is subpar

Southaven has attracted fantastic young teachers especially in the science and german classes but they can't keep them there for long. I was originally worried when meeting my child's science teacher last year because he was so young. My other children were older than him! Turns out he was my son's favorite teacher and turned him from a c student to an A student. This year my daughter couldn't be in his class because the teacher left the school after last year. the principals need to hang on to good young teachers.

My son attends Southaven High School. His teachers help him before and after school if he makes an appointment. They do not play favorites with the kids.

My children attend Southaven High School and I have been very pleased. We started off in the Shelby County school system and the education parental involvement and environment of this school are excellent.

At Southaven high there have been alote of fights since my I has been attending this school. They have excellent programs but there are still problems with rasicm in the school. The students can not express their opinions. I would like to see alote change in the year of 2007 with us moving into a new school!

For a school that is only around 15-20% black there isn't a whole lot of rascism here. All students generally get along and there are competeive sports and extracurricular teams. However the education has slowly declined since 2000 the school does have alot of fights. Overall a fun and good school for everyone way better than the education my kids received at Whitehaven.

Southaven High School is an average school. It has a great band program that is improving at an spectacular rate(5th best in state). Drama Club is very talented and getting better. Racism is an issue but its not commonly expressed among the students. The school is very safe and has no problems with discipline. Teachers tend to help only their favorites. (Of course with a lack of teachers and a growing student body of 1500 student-teacher bonding is not very common). The building conditions are endurable. In recent years bathrooms have been remodeled and a new band hall was built. A new school is also on the way. The school could use more advance classes. Overall Southaven High School is not bad.

Southaven is a quality school with a few problems. The staff generally cares about the progress and development of the students. The extra curricular activities are well led. The activities that Southaven excels at are drama music softball baseball and volleyball. There are some problems in the academics mostly in the availability of higher level classes (example a lack of AP science classes). There are also problems with the condition of the building itself. The are a few instances of racism in the school and incompetent teachers but these are rare. The majority of the staff is truly good.

Excellent school with excellent teachers. Improvements need to be made to the building but the students get along with each other the teachers actually care that the students learn and all the clubs extracurricular activities and the performing arts are spectacular. Education is built at Southaven High School!

The band is so great! The teachers are really helpful and they are always happy to be of assistance! I'm going to miss the school. I can't wait wait until we get a new one though. The stairs are worn and the classrooms are starting to be too small! Overall the whole atmosphere is great!

As a new teacher at Southaven I have been impressed with the good discipline quality of the teaching staff involvement and concern of the adminisration and the constant desire to improve instruction activities and opportunities for all students. School pride is evident from students faculty and parents!
