We love Rockwell but now that Robbie Owen is no longer principal I'm not sure about it's future. Mrs. Manders the acting principal has an attitude and is rude to students and parents alike and does not at all possess the loving and caring attitude that Mr. Owen gave to that school. It is such a difference in carpool line everyday and when I step into the office. I hope they consider someone else for the permanent job as principal. I think someone like Mr. Thorpe (a current 2nd grade teacher) would be perfect or really anyone else from that school whose leadership and personality make people excited to be there. There are so many amazing people at that school to choose from. I just hope Rockwell doesn't lose the spirit that we fell in love with when we chose to send our kids to this school.

Our whole family loves Rockwell! We moved down south about 7 years ago and I was very concerned with the public school system down here. I am more than pleased with the education my boys have received at Rockwell. My boys love it!! Every time I go visit the school I feel like its a little piece of heaven down here in south Alabama. Robbie Owen and all his staff are absolutely wonderful.
I have a daughter that has been going their sense kindergarten and she loves it Rockwell is a great school the teacher's I love them they really gets involved with the students and parents my child have learned so much and I'm thankful for them
My daughter was also bullied during class and the staff would not return calls or email in our attempts to arrange a meeting. Eventually pulled her out. Disappointed does not begin to describe how I fell about this school
As I stated in a previous posting that was deleted for some reason My child has been getting bullied for about a month now and the teacher and principal refuse to acknowledge the issue.
I have had 3 children attend Rockwell and can't say enough positive things. The staff is amazing! I don't think you can find any better. The parent involvement is through the roof. ALL parents are encouraged to help out wherever possible. The PE teachers are great. They do a very good job with the amount of students that they have in each class. The school also acknowledges good grades. They have implemented the National Elementary Honor Society which is a huge honor. I would not want my kids to be anywhere else. We love Rockwell and the Spanish Fort community!
This is our 3rd year at this school so I feel like I've gotten a chance to really get a feel for it. The positives the parent involvement is phenomenal the principal is involved in the little details of things (car line directing traffic substitute bus driver). The staff and and teachers are very friendly and welcoming. The school is very clean and covered in the children's artwork. The negatives I feel like this school fits the 'sports first' attitude of this area. They give out a running award but do not acknowledge honor roll AT ALL while other schools in the area have a whole ceremony. Where is the academic encouragement???? A ribbon or a pat on the back from the teachers for A honor roll is not a lot to ask. There also is a feeling of 'who you know' in the school too. Seems like a few families have more influence in the school than others. Also- this is the 3rd year I've heard from kids (and not just my own) how unfriendly BOTH P.E. teachers are. Is your job that bad???? All in all- it's not the better school that we thought it was going to be but we are certainly happy enough here.
My daughter is in first grade of the Rockwell Elementary school she did her Kinder at the same school. We really like the School good children to teacher ratio very attentive school staff strong PTA clean and safe. It is clear all school staff really love children. School Principal Mr. Owen in 2008 was named Alabama s National Distinguished Principal and in 2011th Mr. Owen has being recognized for his efforts by the White House as a Champion of Change so it s speak for itself about school s leadership. We love this school!
My daughter is in first grade at Rockwell. We LOVE the school. Not 1 complaint!
Good teacher to child ratio. Great principles. Clean and safe environment.
Perfect. The principal Mr. Owen is an awesome and very professional leader. Everyone is happy to be at school and they work hard. There is so much togetherness with students and faculty. I feel that Rockwell could be a 'role model' or any school.
I cannot be happier with Rockwell Elementary! I have two sons that attend Rockwell and they are thriving academically and socially. The principal and teachers are fabulous! I have never seen such dedication from parents and the school to work together in the children's best interest!
We absolutly LOVE this school. Couldn't ask for a better staff and principal. I have 2 kids in Rockwell and soon a third will be there. The parent body is also awesome. Each event has just about every parent attending. Even when I was sick and was not able to attend I knew there would be plenty of other parents there and my kids would be fine. Anytime I ever need anything at all I know I can call the office there and they are happy to help with anything. Can't say enough about this wonderful school.
Great School! Our entire family loves it! All of the school staff love children and are very interested in each child excelling in their studies. Exceptional extended care program!
I have 2 children at Rockwell and absolutely love it. The staff and principal are great and really go the extra mile for everyone.
Very happy with Rockwell. Mr. Owens the principal is known by everyone in this town he is a wonderful person. We've even spotted him attending a local softball game to see some of his students. The school is very well run the office staff is very good about checking id of visitors. My daughter is in Kindergarten and has been reading since about half way through the year. We are very impressed with the community/parent involvement and the PTA program does an excellent job raising funds for the school. They purchased a new rock wall for the gym this year. They have a yearly festival and field day. THe children love it. Things run very smooth here highly recommend. Very sought after school and I see why now!
This school is everything I could want for my child. The quality of care and education she receives is top notch. The teachers are excellent. Mr. Owen is a remarkable principal. What a blessing to have a public school of this calibre in my community. The hallways are full of colorful displays of creativity by our children. The emphasis on music and art is great. I'm so glad that hasn't been cut from the curriculum. Parents are standing in line to help out in the classrooms and with other school activities.
The school and the administrative staff along with the teaching staff are excellent. I hate that one of my children will be leaving this school year to attend another school in the area. I wish Rockwell would go through 7th grade. Keep up the good work and your committment to the students and their parents. We need more principals like Robbie Owens.
Rockwell is a phenomenal school. The teaching staff are both exceptional and caring. I wish Rockwell was K thru 8th! Thanks Rockwell your the best!
Have 2 children who attend....school is very student oriented has strong parental involvement principal and teachers who know every childs name very academic and arts based! We just love it!
