I'm an educator parent and citizen of Hancock County and school . I have watched Hancock Central High School evolve into a school of academicc exceelence. Eventhough the school is all black the math and science scores on the recent GHSGT are among the highest in the RESA and are competive with much larger school districts. The school was awarded the highest # of 'exceeding' from a GAPPS analysis given by the state of Georgia. Students are in uniforms and discipline is at an all time low. HCHS is probally one of the safest school in the state. If you are in the area visti the school. You will see green plant in the hallways and happy smiles and hand shake from staff and students. I'm amazed. Visit the Ga DOE web site and examine the fact by pulling up HCHS Report Card.

I am a parent! Hancock Central High School is not a disciplinary school. I am thinking about taking my kids out of this school. My daughter graduated from Hancock Central High School passed the graduate test but her SAT scores were too low for her to be accepted in a four year college. The school needs a lot of diversity. The staff should be more effective. This is an all black school and we need more highly qualified teachers to come in and prepare our students to prepare themselves academically for the future. Most of the students are outraged and suffer from low-self esteem and need positive role models. We just need more qualified teachers. I would advise any parents to seek out a better school system for their kids. The system need overhauling!

We need to start the process all over to look for a new principal. This one is not working out at all. If she keeps sending kids home at this rate maybe we won't have the need to even keep the high school open. Hats off to the few old school teachers left without you our kids wouldn't stand a chance.

I am aslo a 2001 Hancock Central High School graduate. It is located in a very close knit town with a small population of no more than 1000 students. This gives students the interpersonal and benificial attention they need from teachers to further their learning potentials. Under strict guidelines there isn't excess distraction throughout the course of the school days. However my social life as a HCHS student might not have been the most exciting but the moral learning experience has been condusive to everyday life. -JaVaughn McGregor
