California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

LPMS is a great school. My 2 older kids- now in college- were product of this school. Now it's my youngest son's turn to experience the excellent caring education provided by LPMS. My son's in his last year here but all these times spent with LPMS he loves the remarkable skills he learned from the wonderful people in the LPMS family headed by Principal Allman. They not only provide academic excellence alone but also moral support to their students according to their individual needs. To parents seeking for middle school best for their student i highly recommend LPMS. I say this as a testimony of my own experience as a parent and my kid's superb guidance for their bright future.

LPMS is a fantastic school for kids. Over the last 2 years the State scores have improved tremendously and the Math scores are some of the highest in the District. The principal is very caring and involved in the academic and behavioral improvement of all his students and the teachers are very caring and go above and beyond to provide opportunities for EACH child to succeed. Last but not least the support staff from ESS to custodial are caring and supportive and help keep the school moving in a positive direction.

My son went there all 3 years and received quality education. The staff is amazing and the principal is outstanding! They differentiate for children with special needs both low and high achieving.

I went to La Presa Middle school and so has my younger sibling. Over all its a great school even though they should have kept the old teachers.

I love this school. It's the best school ever! It's the only school in the district with 4 periods and it's great! We had the best scores on the test. And we will get better scores nest time too. I love it and I never wana go to another school!

Best school ever! i love the teachers!! They give a lot of support to all the students. I graduated in 2003 and I still remember the great teachers I had. Mr.Symons was one of my teachers and he brought history to life I also had Mrs.Miller and she was the best english teacher. Mr.Geck was a very good principle. Now my cousin goes their and she gets the same help I did. Now I have graduated form high school and all those teachers from La Presa made a difference in my life.

My 7th grade daughter is getting straight A's. I had no problem putting her into more advanced classless. She seems to be enjoying school and all it has to offer. I've never had a problem getting a hold of any of her teachers.

This school and its educators have failed my son. I will be moving him soon and this time I will do my research. This is the type of school were teachers are preoccupied with troubled students and apparently have nothing left over for students hoping to excel. My son came in as an advanced 7th grader and was placed in classes far below his potential. After debating with administrators I realized I would get no where. Since then he has been placed in classes he took in 5th grade. Until this year I had only experienced schools like this in the movies.

There is a large choice of academic studies. Parents are often allowed to get involved in the fireld trips. This school has great academic goals with helpful staff that work hard towards helping your children. Also disipline is tight but well worth so putting down the bullying numbers.

There are little to no extracricular activities for the students. There are no advanced classes for the gifted and there is a lack of unity at this very diverse school. I can't wait to move away from this area to get my child into a better school. Being negative 15 points from the target API should be enough of a wake up call that something is wrong here.

I had heard La Presa was 'not a good school'. The scuttlebut was wrong! The main curriculm is well rounded and will prepare your child for their future. The Elective classes had a wide varity compared to many of the 'better' (translation bigger budget) schools we have been to (we are military we move alot). Art theatre student government foriegn language journalism technology and more. All geared to be useful later in life. The staff is caring and respectful towards parents and their students. Problems are solved in a timely manner no 'can we make an appointment?' here. Principal Geck is fantastic. Problems and concerns are dealt with immediately in a just manner all the way around. I didn't see parent involvement I saw family involvement. When a program came around Every family was there. I was never disappointed. As they say 'let La Presa pride be your guide'
