Teachers here can go from really bad to really good. Some teachers need to be fired but can't because of teacher tenure and the principal does nothing about it.

The teachers and classes at this school are OK but the students definetly aren't. A lot of kids don't really care about learning. The popular kids are mean to or just ignore the "nerdy" or unusual kids. I have learned at this school for 3 years and never found a real friend. If you are outgoing and popular and are okay with an average education then you should go to this school. If not I don't recommend it.

Staff is dedicated to helping children succeed in all aspects. Educationally and Socially.

Three stars may seem low but the school is 'average.' It is not a bad school at all. I've had a child at the school for three years and I've been impressed with the teachers staff and principal. While I recognize that there are many terrific students at the school I would be remiss if I did not mention that there are quite a few that are not. If the administrators weren't so on top of things the school would be a disaster. If you have a good student with strong character he/she will be fine and will get a decent education. If you worry about your child getting caught up with the wrong crowd look elsewhere.

I'm at s.V.M.S(spring valley middle school) on my first year as a sixth grader. So far this school is fantastic!!!! all the teachers are really nice and very helpful. They're very polite reasonable and a joy to be at the school. Kids really have no problem with this school-except for the ones that disagree. Almost every one of us has a good grade in our report card. So i'm sure you would want your kids to go here!

This school is horrible. The administrators are very rude and many teachers do a poor job teaching. The school itself is in horrible shape. Very little effort and funding is put into its upkeep. There are next to no extracurricular activities. In my opinion SVMS doesn't even meet the bare standards of a decent school. I would definitely advise parents to transfer their kids to another school.

I attended Spring Valley Middle School about six years ago and I had a wonderful experience. While most of friends from Murdock Elementary decided to transfer to private school or go the 'safer' Parkway Middle School route I dutifully attended SVMS. My educational experience was just as strong as any of my peers who attended other middle schools and in the long run the friends who I went to SVMS with are currently attending more prestigious universities. When I look back at my 15 years of schooling most of my most influential teachers were those I encountered at Spring Valley.

Staff is wonderful overall. Academic counseling dept exceptional. My son went into SVMS in the 8th grde in the 'Gate Prog' and had good teachers that really care. Sadly funding has not been there for the arts for this school. Band overcrowded. No extracurricular ie sports that I was made aware of. Not sure of parental involvement but staff seemed dazed and taken aback at my consistent participation in my son's schooling. But they responded w/ immediate positive and very willing attitudes. Extremely refreshing after terrible experiences at Murdock Elem up the street.

I am pleased with SVMS. The school offers many extracurricular activities and the teachers are excellent. I loved it.

Both of my children attended this school and my opinion of the teachers and administration is excellent. They held the children accountable to learn at the level that met or exceeded their own expectations. They were challenged in an environment that was comfortable and fun.

This school would rate a four out of five. It has outstanding programs such as 1) Choir for the children who enjoy singing performing and having a supportive teacher 2)Band for all the kids who enjoy playing instruments or playing the drum(s) infront of a crowd. They even have band for beginners for those who would like to play but don't know how. They also have a cycle which is having one class for only six weeks then you switch to a different class. The school goes on field trips and they have spirit days every now and then to motivate the school to be happy and energized to work. The parents are involved in their childs school as well. The teachers send home progress reports about every two-three weeks. Sring Valley Middle School would be a suitable school for your child if he/she likes to have fun while learning.

I am currently going to SVMS and it is a very good school. It has many after school clubs and activities. The teachers are nice and can be good disciplinarians at the same time. I would suggest this school to anyone.

I am a SVMS parent as well as a former graduate. This school was a great experience for me but I do know that there was a time when things got a little tough later. However by the time my daughter started here Mrs. Bender the teachers and counselors had pulled this school back up and made it the best it's ever been (a true 'California Distinguished School'). I am truly impressed with the commitment they've shown for the students and I know Mrs. Bender is easily available to hear any questions and/or concerns that I may have. SVMS has also afforded my daughter many opportunities from the Band and Chorus to numerous clubs and sports. I feel that my daughter has blossomed both educationally and socially and is ready for Steele Canyon H.S. in the Fall. I will recommend this school to anyone. Final Grade = A+
