Regents Exams (RE)

In 2011-2012 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and several foreign languages. The results for English language arts, math, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics, global history and geography, and US history and government are displayed in GreatSchools profiles. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.

As an alumni of SGI Elementary Middle and High Schools I'd have to say that I enjoyed my time there. I graduated in the top third of my class then went to RIT and earned my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. The teachers at SGI especially in the High School were definitely very willing to help me succeed and pushed me to try to achieve my full potential. The AP courses there were great and really prepared me for college. Though my particular guidance counselor there was of little to no help to me when considering a career or college upon graduation it was nice being able to take charge of something and help myself out. I don't know how the school district is doing currently though I hope it is keeping up. Springville is also a great little town to live in.
