I love my school. The staff and new administration seem dedicated to improving the areas that need improvement and enhancing and celebrating the areas of great achievement. The community while small is a supportive one where children can learn and thrive. No school is perfect but my child is getting a wonderful learning experience from Valley Road School.
This school has a lot to do before it can come up to meet minimum standards in the NJ Education levels. They are cutting the arts. They have had a change in staff year after year without any good results. Teachers and children are leaving the district in droves. If you have a child that needs any help or a child that wants any extra activities don't send them here. The only reason this place survives if because of the few good staff teachers and parents that actually care about the children. Most of the teachers only care about teaching to the NJASK tests.
This School is only satisfactory if you have a cookie cutter kid who is nothing more than a robot. They only teach to pass standardaized tests and it's just a shame. There are some good teachers who truly care but they are far outumbered. It is a shame.
The school is Excellent!! They always put the children first! I had two kids in the school one has since moved on to Lenape where she is always on the honor roll. The other also honor roll at Valley Road! Keep up the good work!!
Not sure what planet the April 28th person who commented is from but the south is still the loweest rank in the nation! NJ was voted best in country in 9 out of 20 categories last year. I think that person may just have a personal issue with one or two of the newer teachers. My experience is Stanhope has been excellent to its students with its staff often putting themselves last. Keep up the good work teachers!
Family atmosphere with a very caring and creative faculty. It's our second home ;) My daughter has grown so much here...we are so happy!
This school was once a great school. I have had 2 older children graduate from this school and 1 in 7th grade now. The quality of the teachers and faculty over the years has diminished severely. It seems that they find a way to rid themselves of the good teachers and keep hiring the ones that are only interested in the money and the benefits. I believe that they all need to look around them including the Super and Principle and their staffs and remember who this school is for. The Children are all suffering here because of all the bureaucratic garbage that goes on. The South have #1 Rated Schools because they are all for the kids and education. The North is all about the money! That's a shame.
Great school! Very homey! Great teachers! Small classes(# of pupils)
An Outstanding School The quality of education and high level of care is evident throughout this School. From the superintendent to the principal office staff teachers through the custodians it can be seen and felt. If there was any one reason to live in Stanhope this school could be it. Our family could not be more pleased than we are having a child at Valley Road. We feel our daughter is getting the best education possible for high school college and life.
I truly love this school. I feel my child is getting an excellent education & his teacher takes a high interest in her children. My child is very excited each day to go to school to meet his friends & to learn. The first thing he wants to do when he gets home from school in the afternoon is his homework. The homework given at this age offers a various learning edge for the children & definitely keeps them interested in wanting to learn. This school offers a great Kindergarten experience for children. This is my first year in this town & so far I am very pleased with all I have seen.
My son is in third grade and this year I put him in public school. He previously was in a Catholic grade school. My son is very shy and I was very concerned with his transition. He is doing very well. The students have been very friendly and receptice to the new comer. He has made good friends already. He enjoys going to school this year. He is very happy with the teachers. Their discipline is much more kinder and gentler and works extremely well. I am impressed with the quality of the material he is learning. I have a detailed explanation provided by his teacher of his daily activities and what is to be expected of him each day. Thank you Mrs. Marra for a great job.
