We have sent 4 of our children through Eastwood. Like any school you will sometimes get a teacher that isn't ideal but except for 1 exception we have found all of our sons' teachers to be exceptional and caring. The receptionist is helpful and friendly and I would say that most of the teachers we have had were of the highest caliber. For those reviewers who were concerned about the principal there is a new principal there as of last year. For those who were concerned about bullying one of my children was bullied during the first year he attended. The principal immediately talked with both children and parents (separately) and the teacher and recess aides. When it occurred some more. They did a bully training thing with several of the classes in his grade level with reminder signs in the hallways and again talked to the main child and parents. We had no further problems and our son is actually friends with this child now. There seems to be about 25 students in each classroom and the school facilities are excellent. The building is new and large with large gym cafeteria and stage music room art room large well equipped playground and is in a quiet area.

I am quite disappointed with eastwood school my daughter would come home with bruises all over her legs and hips and I would ask her how she got them she said that a boy in her class keeps kicking her we addressed it with the teacher and nothing seemed to get done. So my husband went and talked to the teacher again and nothing again and then I wrote a note and they both were sent to the vice princ. office and they were supposed 'talk it out' 3rd graders talking it out what a joke. It just seems to keep happening. And not to mention that the extended school program that they said my child needed to be in produced no results . My daughter comes home everyday and this kid is still bulling her. It is also way to big it needs to be smaller.
I have had 2 children attend Eastwood I cannot stand this school. Both teachers I have dealt with were huge disappointments. My one son had learning troubles and was offered absolutely NO help or suggestions. I ended up putting him into private school where he is thriving. My other son has never had problems in school and gets wonderful grades. His teacher has ruined his spirit about school. The school is too big with no control over the students. My son comes home complaining of being called horrible names and nothing is done about it. One teacher even told me 'There was nothing legally that could be done to help my son.' That son has been diagnosed with ADD with no help of Eastwood's. I am doing school of choice next year I can't stand Eastwood School.
I think that Eastwood is a pretty good school. I have been going there for three years now. I think that the principal does need to take charge though and there rules and disipline pals are a liitle harsh though.
Eastwood school has some excellent teachers and some teachers that seem burnt out. I don't think the problem is all the teacher's fault or the principal's. There are some very challenging kids at Eastwood with zero support at home. They are very disrespectful to adults and do not want to do the work that is put before them. I do think a problem with schools in general is that kids do not have a healthy fear of authority. When I was in school kids shivered at the thought of going to the principal because they knew it would be painful. Now they think it is a joke. I don't want anyone else hitting my child but there has to be more severe consequences to bad behavior especially violence. I don't understand a child cussing shoving hitting slamming doors etc and then returning to the classroom the same day.
I have 2 children at Eastwood and I am utterly disgusted with the teachers and other administration there. The teachers are very rude to the kids and just seem to be there for a paycheck. They expect the children to deliver respect while the children are not given any in return. Any time I have a complaint I always have to take it to the principal. I start with the teachers but they do not follow thru until I finally go above them. Even when I talk to the principal I get that 'my staff does no wrong' it must be your child's attitude. I wish we had more options for our kids.
