California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

This school is terrible. It is the worst school my daughter has ever attended. There are tons of fights she has had 4 of her 6 teachers quit during the school year and none of the teachers keep the parents updated with their child's progress online as they promised they would at the start of the year. I can not wait until this school year is over so that I can get my child away from Crystal and all of the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District.

Okay school but the school is filled with bullies so please protect your kids. The only good thing about the school is vice principal. Honestly don't waste your time sending your kids to this school. I have three boys who currently go here and we are waiting for the year end so we can run fast out of Fairfield.

We are a new family to Crystal. I have a 7th grader. I love the math lab and the support he's getting from all his instructor. I do miss that there is no foreign language computer or sports program.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SCHOOL! Has to be the best middle school in the solano county along with a.b. gale wilson would totally recomend this school to anybody!

Although this school has all the ingredients to be a great school more focus on supervision and accountability is needed! There is close to NO parent participation and the PTO is very lacking! If this school is going to succeed bullies and peer pressure NEED to have more focus. Too many children are picked on and a lot is missed by staff. There are some really good teachers there but from my experience if you really want to know what goes on spend some time there after seeing a few lunchtime activities you'll get the big picture!

The teachers are kind and helped raised my daughter's test scores. This school is great.

I was very apprehensive about my child attending this school but after thoroughly reviewing other schools and having the great interactions from teachers and office staff as well as truly having a concerned principal and vice principal Crystal is a good school. The only problem is students feeling that they would be called snitches or will be bullied by other students for telling the truth. More attention needs to be focus on student behavior for those that come to school for a good education do not be out shadowed by insubordinate students. A overall true "Bullying" policy should be adhered to at all times. Crystal Middle School please keep striving to be better...

iam a new parent of a sixth grader . iam also involved with the pto at the school.the teachers are wonderful and the principal mr marshall is great. he really cares about the school and the students.he has been supportive and very involved with the pto.iam truely impressed.

The school is nice and new. The teachers for the most part good. Mr. Marshall the principal is severly lacking in leadership and fairness to the children which in turn causes the parents and kids to not respect him. Instead of dealing with the problems correctly Mr Marshall uses heavy-handed tatics instead.

Great teachers just so many fights. I don't think this school is safe. I fear for my daugter at this school. I trasferred her. As for the teacher they are great and they put their time into the kids education. Mrs. Summers is the best teacher there!

The school looks great but the staff isn t. Most teachers are very good but the new principal exhibits poor leadership.

My child is currently attending and I love everything about this school. The concern and involment from the Principle is excellent.

My children came from a private school and this was a whole new world for them. I have to say that I am thrilled with my 6th graders teachers Mr. Baptista and Mrs. Mcormick. My Daughter Loves them as teachers and they are so wonderful to her. My 8th grader has many teachers but his favorite is woodshop with Mr. Stevens and really enjoys him. He is a Great teacher. School is clean with a Great lunch program. Security is Awesome with lots of staff out and about. I am very happy with the school! Marnie Marfil Parent.

My child is a sixth grader who has just transitioned from private school to public school. The academic programs are lacking in a big way. The sports department have little to no funds to support the students. I have found no opportunity for parent involvement. I also feel the the teachers have low patience levels and are not as concerned about the students learning as they should. No wonder the KPI scores are low.

I think in the last three or four year this school has made great improvements. My son's sixth grade teachers all seem to know what they are doing an they have a strong sense of community and control in the classroom. The campus is always pretty clean and when I go to visit the students seem nice.

Crystal Middle School has gone to a dramatic change. I moved to Suisun City in 1993 at that time everything I heard about the school was awfully negative. However that is the past... My kids have and are attending Crystal Middle School and I can say that it's a middle s I truly recommend. Crystal's staff is friendly and know most if not all of the kids by name. The teachers are in constant communication with the parents. Parents are always welcome to get involved. The academic program is excellent and they do have very good extracurricular activities. I am very happy to see that we have a great school in our area.

Academic programs are okay. Sports has most availability with not much music and art. Very concerned about safety at school.

I really disliked that school. Their discipline was allful. There are a lot of fights. Never really learned anything the teacher didn't care.

I was very impressed by the new campus but I am a bit nervous about the size of the shool. I have a sixth grader starting in the fall.

The principal and vice principal are excellent. The teachers are wonderful as well. A new teacher this year 2003-4 Mr. Frasu really enjoys teaching and is very concerned about his students and I'm glad my son is in his class. Mr. Frasu is young and brings a fresh perspective to Band. Continue the great work staff at Crystal Middle School!
