This is a great school full with great students and a caring compassionate staff. All four of my kids attended Southview High school for all four years and all were very prepared for college.

Wonderful school for all 4 of my children! Prepared them we'll for college. Other students are nice too.
Very poor summer gym program. Buyer beware... Teachers bully students. Very poor safety equipment. The state needs to come in and audit this program. Parents and students afraid of speaking out! Not me! My son will never go to summer gym here again. Total hazing event! Audit please... Hazing in its finest!
The summer gym program is brutal teachers extremely unhelpful. Children throwing up on the turtle run and verbally abused by the staff. Do not send your kids to this inadequate program. Rossford Perrysburg offer much better programs... Move your children out of this program!!! Lack of management compassion and modification suggestions.
I was new to SV my senior year. When I first saw it I was like okay looks like I can fit in...there were some friendly people. But no nobody wants to include you in their group so I had to be friends with a bunch of foreign exchange students (which was fine they are really friendly). Anyways the teachers are close to nothing I think they most are new to teaching or something because they don't teach whatsoever. I had to self teach AP courses to myself..umm....no?? My teachers gave absolutely no notes--so good luck if your not used to that. Also the principal has minimal participation. I think I see him once every two weeks. Also he won't yell at people making out in the hallways but will yell at you if you don't have a bathroom pass...ummm....what??? Does that make sense. If you are looking into moving into Sylvania and have heard the rumor that SV/NV are great schools DON'T BE FOOLED!! Also SV has a lot of drugss....that speaks for itself.
Rogers is a better enviorment for my children and i'm a teacher a Southview...Go Rams!!!
One day I was walking to class and I accidentally dropped all of my books and they ended up all over the floor. Kids who passed by walked over and helped me pick them up. Not just one kid a few actually. I think this really says something about the students at Southview. On top of that Southview provides a great academic program. You can take all different kinds of classes and they range from easy to incredibly challenging. There are a lot of Honors and AP classes and I guarantee you will never find yourself bored in a class unless it's something like English where you are required to take it. The athletic program is amazing. Our football team is always ranked top. As for extracurriculars there is just so much I could say. The Speech/Debate team led by Mr. Clarkson (who is amazing) is absolutely phenomenal.
Excellent academics; good -- although a little dated -- facilities; large school; teachers seem good and interested in the students.
Sylvania Schools have a reputation for academic excellence and we found this to be true during my daughter's 4 years there. There are a wide variety of opportunities. For example a wonderful orchestra program and many advanced placement courses. There are many extracurriculars. A large percentage of students are well prepared to succeed at top colleges like Harvard and the like. Some individual teachers are excellent. I was struck however that often teachers showed little respect for the students. I felt this was modeled by the principal. There never seemed to be much real caring or even relationship between the principal or most teachers and the students. For example my daughter was active in a variety of activities in top 2% of class won numerous awards etc -- but the principal didn't know her name when she was a senior. I would say the atmosphere is not particularly friendly.
southview is very cool and the teachers are cool too.
Being a senior at southview is awesome! I've been there for 4 years and they've all been great. the entire staff is exceptional. Our school district has earned an excellent rating from the state and you can see why when you walk in the halls and sit in the classes. Everybody is polite and curtious and the whole student body is treated the same whether they're freshmen or seniors. (although i must admit seniors ARE treated better by the staff....but nobody is really supposed to know that lol.) Southview is definatly a superb school.
For the record Southview does not have grades 7 and 8 in it. I am freshman so I only have been going to Southview for a few weeks but I love it! We have great teachers and principals. We have an amazing football team and other athletics. We also have one of the best student bodies in Ohio. Because I am a freshman I can tell you that the upperclassmen are very kink and helpful. Yes they see us as little freshman but if we need help they are always ready to lend a hand. Southview it really is an amazing school and I already love it!
