Please only rate the school one time per person! My child has had a great experience academically at Northwood. He is in all Honors classes where there are less discipline problems so we have not encountered that but his classes are VERY challenging and the teachers are highly qualified. He has learning disabilities but no IEP/504 yet the teachers are all willing to accommodate his extra needs with just emails from me every year. His teachers care that their students really learn and prepare for high school. I really appreciate the dress code. I have heard there are problems with kids in the school (as in any school) but I feel the administration does well at keeping order and safety at the school.

The New principal is awesome as well as the administrators! I know in the past there seemed to be problems but what I have seen so far I like. My daughter is in her 7th year without any issues! Just my opinion this is a quality school for my daughter!

As a student at this school it's awful. All the kids speak Ghetto no matter what their culture is. The kids are mean and I myself have been called names and bullied. My parents went to the principal and it stopped for a while but then continued. I have had two teachers who have been really nice and more than a few that have been miserable. My parents will not put my sister in this school next year.

I am a actiuve student at Northwood Middle School in Taylors SC. My school is preppy and has won the palmetto gold and silver over the past three years. Although a public school we have a very good campus and also highly qalified teachers. Along with this we are partnered with Eatsside High School to give students like myself more options in extracuriculars.

Northwood Middle School has been a great school for all three of our children. We have had two boys to attend Northwood for all three of their middle school years. They had a great experience and were prepared for high school. I believe that there is strict discipline at this school and I like that. My daughter will be a 7th grader this year and she had a great 6th grade year. I believe that your school experience depends a lot on what you put into it. So we encourage our children to do their best and to be respectful to everyone. I am also involved as a volunteer as much as I can and I believe that makes a difference. My children see me there and they know that I care about what is happening to them. You won't find a better middle school in Greenville County!

Disappointed in this school. My child has been here since 6th grade now entering 8th. Not impressed with the teachers at all. Through the years he's had only maybe 2 really good teachers. A lot of disciplinary problems in this school and I feel the administration is not tough enough at all. Plenty of bullying going on and fights. The school is only rated "Good" and they can't seem to pull that up. Definitely will NOT send my next child here. Do your research.

Not a good school. Very diverse all the kids in my daughters classes talk ghetto and this school is very weak on discipline! They should have a ZERO Tolerance for bullying attitude at Northwood and they don't. She's had teachers that I question "why" are they even teaching. Major changes need to happen at this below mediocre school. Can't wait until she is out!

WORST SCHOOL EVER....If you have children with learning difficulties PLEASE DO NOT put them at this school they will not go by the IEP's like they should a lot of teachers are there just for a pay check not to help the children or care about their needs and don't let them fool you THERE IS a lot of bulling going on at that school by kids and some of the teachers too.

My son is being bullied at this school and the only solution offered to me was to have my sons schedule changed which means he has to find all new friends and they bully gets away with no punishment at all.

My son has an IEP for ADHD. They don't seem to really follow it or care if he does well in school. Instead they would rather pass him on when failing classes. The only teacher who even bothered to give feedback was this P. E. teacher. Although the principle is good with the students the teachers don't really care about helping the students who are struggling . When I ask the counselors for ideas or suggestions they don't seem to offer much help. Honestly I am starting to think Home schooling is a much better option.

Yes The school has dress code and that is good but it still does not have discipline. Teachers are K but history teacher NO.

Excellent teachers I loved the uniform no jeans. my oldest son was in it and my 2nd son going next year. Thanks for all teachers there.

Northwood is a diverse middle school with an exceptional faculty and awesome students. The principal Mr. Griffin has an open door policy and is available to talk to parents on a daily basis. The faculty is very engaging and they make learning fun! We have had two children at Northwood and they have been very prepared to enter high school.

I was so nervous when my daughter began 6th grade at Northwood last year. Once I heard the principal address the parents at 6th grade orientation I felt much better. It was clear that he cares about his students and the community. My daughters teachers have been wonderful. They have challenged her and offered after school support when she needed it. The icing on the cake is the uniform dress code. I love seeing such clean cut and neat students. Not a single pair of low slung baggy jeans in sight! Did I mention that the Greenville County Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011 was from Northwood?

We have been thrilled with Northwood. The principal is outstanding and provides a welcoming safe and disciplined environment. The teachers are willing to stay late/come in early to help students succeed. We are pleased with academic and extracurricular offerings. We have had a great experience at Northwood.

We really struggled with the decision for Middle School for our three children. We checked them all out - Public Magnet Charter Private and Religious. Ultimatetly we decided on Northwood and we couldn't have been happier. We love the new school the dress code ROCKs and so does Mr Griffin. His door has ALWAYS been open to us and he is very proactive welcoming and experienced. The teachers have made a tremendous and positive impact on our children and they have always been willing to help and support any way they could. We are not from Greenville and had heard a few negative things about Northwood - but we had a WONDERFUL experience both with students parents teachers staff and administration. Take a tour come and visit and see for yourself - NORTHWOOD Middle ROCKS!

We couldn't be happier with Northwood Middle! Coming from another city with problem public schools and previous bully issues this school has exceeded our expectations. The teachers have taken a true interest in our sons' education and Mr. Griffin is a top-notch principal. We love the dress code the cleanliness of the school and the strong anti-bully policy. Our son loves the school! Parental involvement seems to be strong.

This school only focuses on the teachers not the students. The students who have disabilities with IEP's get left behind. This is not a great school nor does it try to be. The teachers are being led around by a principal with control issues. Clearly showing no intelligence towards their students. In order to lead you have to look upon yourself first fix the things that you lack and then lead.

The teachers and staff go above and beyond what is expected. Since the dress code was put into place discipline issues have dropped significantly! I absolutely LOVE the dress code. I've had teachers email me late at night when I had a question and stay after school often to help my children. Couldn't ask for a better school!
