My 3rd child is going thru Galatas now. This school has proven time and again to be a very well run school. Teachers and staff are caring and accommodating. The PTO provides lots of extras that add to what the teachers are teaching. There are lots of opportunities to be involved for parents. Negative reviews are coming from parents that probably don't involve themselves to better understand the staff. Too bad. The kids love it here even coming back when in high school to volunteer for a number of things. Good teacher/student ratio with lots of qualified teachers. The school even provides tutoring to those students that need it so every child has a chance to succeed. Whether GT or special needs every child has a chance to do well here.

SOOOOO disappointed in the school. I hoped to have better qualified staff. My son's teacher was new and had no idea what she was doing-J.Patchell

I am moving to the Woodlands in the next month. My kid is already in the GT program at another district .... Anybody.... experience with the GT program here?

We only looked at homes in the Galatas Elementary area based on speaking with several families we knew who lived in the area. We had previously lived overseas and our children had only gone to a small private school. We couldn't be more happy with both the teachers and the leadership. My son had the BEST 2nd grade teacher and 3rd grade is looking just as promising. So happy that we took the recommendations and moved to this area.

HORRIBLE MILITARY STYLE SCHOOL! If your child needs extra help with ANYTHING take your child somewhere else! Teachers don't have time are sesitivity to give care or help for children who need extra time doing assignments. They expect children to be mutes during lunch..are you kidding me? The only thing they really care about is keeping tests scores high so ratings and funding stay high. The school is old and has a cold feeling to it..not enough care integrated into learning..my child used to love school at his private school. We then switched to Galatas because we heard it is a great school. WRONG! Its ratings are only based on test scores..not the way the school is run or the environment of the school. I took my child out after a month and put him back in private. He is now happy again and loves school again. This school needs to focus on children and what enables them to learn not tests! The only positive thing I have to say about the school is the parent involvement..but all schools in The Woodlands have this.

Wonderful school....the best elementary school in The Woodlands. I did my homework before we moved there and couldn't be happier that we bought our house in the Galatas zone. It's like getting a private education at a public school. We feel so lucky that our kids attended there. The icing on the cake...Marlene Lindsay principal was the 2011 Distinguished Elementary Principal of Texas. That says something!!!

Galatas gave both of my daughters an excellent start in a very loving environment. It always rates Exemplary.

We moved here mid-way through the school year and Galatas could not have been more accomodating. My 2nd grader settled in very quickly and my preschool was in Speech within a week of arrival (and has improved tremendously). I love that it is a smaller school but that will change in 2009 as it takes on 200 more students so we'll have to see what effect that has on this great school.

Excellent school. It's run like a well-oiled machine and parents who say 'it lacks warmth' are naive. The principal and staff and professional dedicated and caring what more can you ask for?

We chose our home based on the reputation of Galatas and we have not been disappointed. I was room mom our first year and often sat in awe of how smoothly this school ran. My children have attended school in 3 different countries parochial public and prep but this is the first school they have attended where I feel like everyone works as a team. School is for the students not for the parents and I applaud Mrs. Lindsay for having the courage to run her school according to the best interest of ALL the students. There is none better than Galatas.

I have been impressed since day one of kindergarten. My oldest son attends and will be in 3rd grade this year. Mrs. Lindsey is not cold can you name another principle who tkes the time to learn every students name and know something about them? The rules are the same at every school. I feel extremely lucky that both of my children will attend this school.

Galatas Elementary is a wonderful school. Both my children attended from k-4 and received excellent care and educations. There are some truly gifted teachers there.

I too feel that the school lacks warmth. The lunch environment is awful too. Need more focus on social interaction and development both during breaks and in the classroom. How are kids to develop social skills and friends without interaction? Very concerned about the large class sizes of the lower grades and think that there should be more recess periods. Young children need frequent breaks to maintain absorption and interest.

This school is only good if you are a straight A student who sits quietly all day long. They really expect these kids to sit perfectly still. They only care about their exceptional status not the kids. The staff needs a lot of continuing education on special needs kids. Students aren't allowed to talk much in the lunch room and the school is very quite when you walk in. A very very cold school. I pulled my kids out to homeschool. The staff were just causing too much damage to their self esteem. And I agree with the other lady about the principal- It comes from the top.

Best school in all of the Woodlands. Outstanding parent involvement!

Galatis has always had a stellar reputation in terms of academic acheivement and high TAKS score results. My son attends Galatis and though I'm pleased with the academic part of his education I am dissapointed in the overall lack of social intergration and lack of child centered teaching. Thsi school just doesn't have a warm inviting feel.

I think the school is a reasonable school. The best thing the school does is help the children who are slow. I sent good readers to the school reading well above grade level but the school will not allow children to read books out of grade level. Safety & discipline - school is a bit stiff. Front office staff is unfriendly. Unfortunately this sets the tone for the school. Children are not allowed to move around or talk much at lunch

This is perhaps the best school in the district largely due to the principal and how she runs her school. Quality of teaching is high with very low teacher turnover rates. Happy teachers mean childrens and great learning environment. She is a leader not a puppet of the parents. There is a large extracurricular activities program. Parent Involvement is extremely high at this campus and parent's ideas are valued.

I am very pleased with Galatas Elementary. My children love to go each morning and are consistenly challenged with appropriate work neither too difficult or too easy. My children's teachers seem to genuinely care for the students. The school offers music art and physical ed. classes which they call 'specials'. Each grade level performs a music program every year. The school has guest speakers and special events such as a 'dinosaur camp' and visiting author. The parents are very involved and welcomed to be a part of everything that is going on at the school. The principle and vice principal are smart and caring women. I can't say enough good things about Galatas Elementary.

I was very concerned about putting my child in public school due to my experience working with a couple of CISD principals. Galatas is the exception not the rule in this district. I am very thankful for Galatas and its leadership.
