Rated EXCELLENT for two years in a row SHS is a great choice. I am in my sophomore year and have raised my grades and I am now doing better than I was at DeVeaux Middle School which did not prepare me for high school very well. Start is a great choice for students who are gifted or students who love an environment where they are welcomed.

Whow! What an amazing place to learn! This school pretty much has it all. Academics Athletics Fine Arts many extracurricular activities I could go on.... Whats also cool is the diversity & 'melting pot' of ethnicities here at Start. Why pay a fortune to send your kids to a private school when they can get a superior education here at Start? This is the best h.s. in TPS by a mile! Looking for the best h.s. in T-town? Become a Spartan!

I loved this school! It's amazing! When I was given a tour I had seen how everything was and how classes were everyday. I would love for my children to go here. They have alot of options at this high school.

It is this safest and nicest school in Toledo Ohio. Start has it's own melting pot of all different ethnicites.

I used to believe that this school was a good place to be for the student that wants to learn. That opinion has changed with this school year. Not only my child but other children attending Start have started to complain that it's very difficult to learn in an environment filled with so many students that DON'T want to be there. Teachers lack the ability and permission to discipline the truly 'troubled' students and as a result those really wishing to learn are lost in such a chaotic environment.

this school is helping my kid learn what he needs to know. and I believe this is a wonderful school for any child to enjoy learning.

Start is a great place to learn and is ethnically diverse. Start offers a variety of extra-curricular activites and various sports teams. You can also find dedicated teachers who really care. Start also offers a great music department that helps you on a personal level

Overall I think that Start is a great school for students and their parents to become involved in. Start has many clubs and various after school activities--that include Gang Green Club (environmental) to various language and culture clubs. Start also encourages the arts with classes like Photography Drama Ceramics Jewlery making Choir Band Jazz Band & Orchestra. The teachers are dedicated to their students learning (but as every school does we do have some 'out of it' faculty) and constantly are providing challenges. Plus most are flexible with getting extra help such as morning tutoring. The counselors are very willing to help and keep their students in mind (I've had a very excellent experience with mine). Sports are big at Start even though we are only really good at baseball. Students have overall high school spirit & are mostly proud of our school.

I enjoy coming to school only to see my friends and select teachers. I don't think everything runs according to plan and the staff needs to be a lot tougher on the problematic students

We have raised one child through the help of Start High staff and two more years for the second child. As a whole start is on track for the average student. My child is attend college of her choice with multiple scholarships. I is a combination of parent teacher counselors and office staff community help. Be on top of things teachers can't do it all and neither can you. Work together support your child no matter what and the teachers that work so hard to educate our children. The opportunity of class choices is wonderful at Start. My girls have been able to really explore their interests to give them a good start in college. Proud to say my child goes to Start. Thanks to all the parents who have given their time to support other children as well. Upstarts and other such volunteers. Get involved parents.

Level of college preparatory classes is and always has been exellent. Athletics in general very motivating especially baseball. Unfortunately football staff specializes in demoralizing players--not the best situation for a young impressionable 16 or 17 year old.

I agree! My son also has ADHD and is failing terribly. He has a counselor who could care less (since he's not into sports)and thinks even though he's ADHD he should be doing as well any other student. He has an accademic assist teacher like study hall and still is behind in his work. Nice lady but not with it. He use to have a counselor that cared and helped him but sinced they made some changes he dont have her any more. (she was making too much of a stink about special ed students not getting the care and attention they needed so now she's not a special ed counselor any more-now it goes alpha). Why can't they just do what's best for the student?

I am currently a senior at Start High School and I'm very proud of the education I've gotten here. With a school of over 2 000 kids I've received an expected amount of attention. The classes were all very challenging and as long as your kid works hard and behaves (which is expected of a high school student) school here's pretty easy. I love all the different clubs they offer I'm in 12. I started the Japanese Culture Club which was a smooth process and I'm very proud of. School Spirits very high and the students have genereal a good mind set. The only thing I would say needs help is double scheduling many of the classes I want to take are offered at the same time.

I think this school is very slow when it comes to helping my son that as ADHA DISORDER.He needs Special help and we cant seem to get any for him. Hes starting the third quarter and is Failing. My wife has been to the school countless times. All they tell her is that it takes time to reevailuwait our son.Bye the time there done he will have failed the ninth grade.Well I think our son is being left behind.
