Regents Exams (RE)

In 2012-2013 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in English, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, Earth science and physics. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.

I really love this school because i really feel the support and encouragement from teachers to do better and understand how to achieve your goals. The guidance counselors are always willing to answer your questions and help you out. Im a senior and im about to go to college im really getting alot of help from my teacher and from my counselor with getting me into a good college and what I need in order to get into college. The most of students in this school are honestly sweethearts and so friendly. Alot of funny people and cool people to chill with. It feels like a family in Valley Central To me I think this school should be rated ten out of ten.

Valley Central High School experinces a bad word about them once in a while but those words usuallly come from unhappy students due to things not going their way. This high school is a very nice high school. The teachers are there for their students everyday for any problem these students have. The staff of guidance counselors and principals and hall monitors taake their jobs seriously as well and make sure they try to solve every problem that is handed to them. The sports clubs and performances bring this school's body of students parents and staff together to enjoy an event that they have in common. Students you have never expected to be friends with each other are friends with each other. The bullying is low 1 student out of 15 students. Everyone in this building makes an effort to achieve a common goal to make it through the school years have memorable times and go on to achiewve greater things in their lives. Valley Central has had tough times due to budgets and but this school tries everything possible to save the programs and the stafff for future students to have an amazing experince. Teachers have retired to save teachers their jobs. This school has Viking Pride.

I am a current senior at Valley Central High School and I'm due to graduate in June 2009. Overall I would not reccomend this school to parents. I had a hard time trying to get along with many of the students they are consumed with trying to fit into cliques and do not have very good personal qualities. Other wise if your child is not easily influenced by others and has a good head on their shoulders they could thrive in this school. In March 2007 toward the middle of my sophmore year I found out that I was in kidney failure. My guidence counselor and the entire faculty and staff were very supportive and all of my teachers were willing to make special arrangements for me due to my schedule. so if your child has any special circumstances this school will do it's best to work with their individual needs

Staff members in the main office are rude as well as in other departments. However with the exception of two teachers most of the teachers were very dedicated and cared for the students learning abilities. The school's structure is very updated and modern. The facility always appeared to be neat and clean. The security of the school seems to be excellent. If you're seeking a school in which you will learn this is an excellent choice.

Valley Central HS has been an incredible HS for my two children one of which graduated as Valedictorian. School is what you make of it ...students who are motivated and take advantage of what school has to offer will do very well here. Teachers exhibit a great deal of caring and in general are motivated and impart this motivation to their students. The principal and other administrators do a fine job of creating a climate for learning. The only negative thing that I can say is that I wish class sizes were a bit smaller and that the Bd. of Ed. would spend more money on the simple things like texts etc. This district has one of the lowest expenditures/student in the county but this is NOT something to be proud of.

I graduated in 2002 from VC. It was the best four years of my life. Teachers are fair and classes are challenging. If you get the grades and the sat scores you can get into any college you want. Sports are a big deal but that is why there is so much school spirit. I still go to athletic events at VC and I would love to teach and coach a sport there when I get out of college. It is a beautiful town with beautiful people. It's a very comfortable setting. Everybody gets to know everybody and the relationships can last a lifetime. Valley Central is a great place to send your kids to school.

Valley Central is not the best school at which to educate your child. The school district and its parents are unbelievably cliquish and obnoxious and this carries over into the classrooms and social settings. While teachers at the high school level attempt to be more fair in terms of how they treat the students many of the teachers in the lower grades openly favor popular children or the children of parents who are well-known in the surrounding communities. The quality of the education is mediocre at best. As a former student I feel that another high school would have been much better for me. VCHS sends many graduates to tiny local colleges and NY state universities - your child may have a hard time getting into a private college if he/she goes here the academics just aren't up to par. Sports are a big deal here - there is little to do otherwise.
