New York State Assessments (NYSA)

In 2011-2012 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in science. The results for English language arts and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles and the science results will be added when they are released in the Fall of 2013. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to meet or exceed grade-level standards on the tests.

Bad bad school. Horrible school. If your child has an active imagination this is a REALLY bad match. Lack of teacher's aides attention to the children have put many children in dangers way considering school is on a VERY busy road and the playground is not entirely fenced in!

I think Woodstock Elem is very special and I feel so grateful that our daughters attend. The only drawback would be the pressure to prepare for the State testing -- even as early as Kindergarten. But I imagine it's the same story all over. On the plus side Woodstock boasts an amazing music program. Ms. Blum conducts the orchestra and teaches each participant weekly complimentary semi-private lessons during school hours. Mr. Boyer leads the band and the amazing Jazz band. Every other year they put on a musical co-directed by Boyer and Ms. Albright my daughter's teacher allows students time during the day to complete their work so they don't have homework. We have loved Woodstock Elementary! It's principal Ms. Bobbi Schnell is wondrous. She has an amazing ability to handle sensitive and demanding situations with wisdom articulation sensitivity genuine caring and grace.

My son has flourished at this school. The music program is outstanding. Academicly the standards are high and the teachers and students meet the standards. Leadership by the Principal is excellent and the school overall has a caring nuturing enviroment with no bullying and much respect by other students.
