I love this district and this school My daughter has thrived in the program and has passed her set education levels. She is consistantly challanged and is excited to get to school. She has a brand new teacher this year so they are learning about travis together(my daughter is a 1st grader so she goes all day this year). It's a leading school and thecare taken with our children is first rate.

We will be going into our fourth year at Travis and it just keeps getting better! It is located on TAFB so there is a mix of military and civilian families. I have been with the PTA for the last two years and the only disappointing thing is the lack of parental involvement. The teachers we have had have all been great and I do mean Great! The school has an excellent AR program for Reading and Math. The principal knows her students and is doing a great job from my perspective. I have two sons entering 3rd grade and Kindergarten this year. My youngest has some speech issues and I have found Travis to be just what he needed. We are looking forward to another great year at Travis I'm sure the school and staff won't disappoint! Go Travis Falcons.

Yes it's true Travis is one of the highest scoring schools in Solano county. The fact that it is located inside Travis Air Force Base and largely attended by children of military personnel may account for the excellent scores. In my opinion (and I'm not military) military children tend to be well disciplined & academically advanced (their parents are high raking officers maybe?) Then there are the kids that come from the neighborhoods outside Travis AFB who are a reflection of urban life & attitude. Interesting mix. However it is to the principal & teacher's credit that their high expectations of the students resulted in a powerhouse school. Programs such as Accelerated Reading & Math are a series of self paced exams which no doubt prepares the students for standardized tests. Picking up kids is cumbersome taking the school bus helps.

Initially felt lucky to be accepted at Travis Elem. However was disappointed to find that teacher seemed to be more concerned in reading class with open book tests allowing students to read their texts aloud to each other in pairs and listen to recording of material instead of actually talking about the content. Was also sad to find that teachers were more interested in handing out completely unreadable test scoring data rather than talking about the child. Finally had only one or two opportunities per year to actually sit and talk with the teacher was not enough to feel that teacher has real grasp of my childs potential academic strengths and weaknesses. And it always seemed odd to me that the PTA was never really involved with curriculum problems but was only called upon to raise money through endless parade of fundraising events. Nevertheless I felt that my child improved during year.

My son went from 1st-6th at Travis Elemntary and my two daughters K-5th so far! The educators are stellar and really care about the children. I'm thrilled with the API results year after year. I'm keeping my kids in the TUSD as long as I possibly can!

We were at Travis for 2 years with one child attending Kindergarten and 1st grade and one child as a 'Role Model' student in the Preschool program. I was an involved parent who got to spend quite a bit of time at the school and with the staff. The school principal teachers office staff and support staff are top-notch. I wish that there were extracurricular activities for the lower-level grades my son really wanted to be involved but couldn't. Participation in the Accelerated Reader program was fantastic and the kids really enjoyed the Miler's Club. The Preschool program was wonderful and beneficial to both special needs and role models. Parent participation was low w/the PTA board members and a few dedicated volunteers coordinating and running most activities. Non-military parents need to be given more access to the school and the base especially on weekends but that's a district and base issue.

You should have no reservations what so ever about sending your elementary age child here! I had 3 children at this school while we lived in CA for 3 1/2 years and then moved to Ohio. All of my children were very well prepared if not ahead of the other students in their grade! The majority of teachers at Travis Elementary are exceptional! They take a genuine interest in their students and it shows by the children's enthusiasm. The principal that was there while my children attended Travis was not what I would have considered a very effective administrator but he did get the job done.

I have three children attending this school. They have been at Travis going on 4 years now. This school is outstanding! Mrs. Auwae and Mr. Ziegler are particularly remarkable. All the teachers are wonderful. Each of my children learn constantly and often impress themselves. The basics of reading and writing are taught without fail and lead to more and more incredible learning for my children. Thank you Travis Elementary School!

Being on the Travis Elementary School PTA I should love this school! My son had a blast in Kindergarten with Mrs Estavillo she was fantastic! I like how close the school is to my work and how they communicate via the weekly Travis Tails newsletter.

My daughter has been attending Travis Elementary since 2001 and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at this school. Being on a military base it is very important for there to be a strong parent teacher relationship because of the distinctive situations that military children face. The education that my daughter has recieved is great she is an accelerated child and I was very doubtful when we left her DODDS school overseas. I have been very impressed with the overall success of my daughter at Travis.

Being a homeschooling family we decided to attend Travis Elementary for first grade. By far Mrs. Auwae is the best teacher I could have ever hoped for. She is patient understanding and extremely 'in-tuned' with the children. Her teaching skills have proven results in my child!!!
