Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS)

In 2011-2012 Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) was used to test students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and 10, writing in grades 5, 6, 7, and 10, and in science in grades 4, 8 and 10. AIMS is a standards-based test, which means that it measures how well students have mastered Arizona's learning standards. Students must pass the grade 10 AIMS in order to graduate. The goal is for all students to meet or exceed state standards on the test.

Whelp I've been at Sunnyside for 3 years (I'm a junior on to senior) and THIS SCHOOL HAS LOST IT'S PRIDE! Instead of having fun at prep rallys and other gathered events more people decide to complain and sit on the bleachers then actually participate in anything! This year's vote for senior positions in student council were just one person per spot. ONE PERSON PER SPOT! No one's even trying to run and the ones running/already decided for aren't even proud to be Blue Devils. I wanted my school years to be fun and awesome not filled to the brim with nasty students. Burning up trash cans and pulling alarms freshman students getting free laptops only to go to waste by being broken on purpose (fools I tell you!). This schools needs some spirit and brains but I'm not even sure if any of the problems here could even be solved.

Ive finished my first year at Sunnyside High School and I really do think that its the best! I learned a lot of new things about myself and the teachers there are magnificent! Sunnyside has gone through some rough times in the past but we have learned to take what we have. I recommend Sunnyside to others because the teachers really connect with you and the education just keeps reaching higher!

I am a former student of Sunnyside High School and I believe it is a great school. I know some things might need fixing but I really felt welcomed. I may not agree with many things they are doing. However the teachers and staff are amazing. I learned a lot from them. Not only did I learn my English Science Math ect. I also learned what life is really about. I love this school with all my heart and I would recommend it to others. Who better than to recommend a school than a student that has been there right?

This school is top notch when it comes to extracurricular activities and special needs kids. I believe that the teachers are also truly vested in the kids performance in class although I'm not sure how the upper level classwork and teaching is. Our experience with this school was phenomenal and the sports programs have the best coaches there are.

Sunnyside high school is a good school but they need to fix many things. I think that what this school really needs is a new principal and a new assistant principal of discipline. -annoyed parent!

Sunnyside has a quality English and Science program. Extracurricular activities are plentiful and the programs are great. Parental involvement is minimal.

Sunnyside provided a quality education. Although I was an honors student and still required a year at PCC before I continued to the university. I do not think it was impossible for me to go straight to the university I just found the transition easier by attending PCC.

I believe Sunnyside High School is a great. Although I am involved in many activites I wish that the school offered more career related clubs. The Honors Academy provides a great outcome yet gives too my homework on my opinion. Parents need to become more involved with the school. I am very involved in my activities.

I think this school could be better than what it is now with or without extra funding. I feel it is the attitudes of students and staff that just make this school not great. I feel that the teachers there are not enthusiastic and aren't really concerned with the education of their students. It isn't really enforced that any student there should achieve any goals or get good grades they should be strict. As for athletes there I think they recieve too much attention for their skill. Academics is something that should really be enforced. I feel if you create a positive attitude a positive environment will follow!

I would like to see teachers more involved with students work ethic. Needs more funding all around in general.

I feel if the educators at Sunnyside are failing in providing my child with the information and materials needed to learn the classroom lessons. Furthermore the supervisors and administrators are very slow to act upon stressed and proven concerns.

The teachers at Sunnyside really care about their students and guide them in the right direction. Because of Sunnyside my daughter has went to a straight A student with a GPA of 4.0! I think that all the teacher deserves a hand and I think they are wonderful and they build students confidence.
