See http://www.engageny.org/sites/default/files/resource/attachments/test_score_release_letter_to_parents.pdf from New York's Commissioner of Education for more information on these changes. In 2013-2014 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in Science. At present 2013-14 results are available only for English language arts and math. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. The goal is for 90% of students to mee

We have really enjoyed this school over the past 3 years. Teachers are mostly caring and dedicated and we have never had a problem getting meeting special help for a child etc. Extracurriculars are not great as there is a small budget for activities outside of the classroom but school groups still do a lot for the school.

I find the students are very receptive to learning and strive to achieve the best. the parents are very supportive and helpful. The staff and teachers are the best in Utica and it is seen in their great scores on the NYSED assessmnets. Keep it up
