California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

I went there for 5 years when I was in elementary. I remember from 6 years ago all the teachers I had. - Harmony Curry

They seem very dedicated to giving my child the highest possible quality education. The parent teacher conferences are more than what I had experienced before in any other conference I've ever had with my older children. I trust my child to grow with the kind of education he is receiving at Brentwood elementry.

This school is great. all three of kids go here. And my oldest had issues with learning and was a needs improvement and satisfactory child on report cards. He started the school half way thru the year and his first report card was S+ and Excellent. They have taught him and my other children to succeed over their limits and my youngest was announced that he should be in Gate for gifted and talented students. I love the school and their teachers are all very nice and understanding. )

Love Brentwood!!!! My daughter has been here for 3 years and I can't say enough great things about them! Ms Johnson and Ms Porterfield are fantastic!!!

I also agree with the comment in September 2010.Too many teachers would bark at the students for no reason. My sister went there and hated it and she got beat up And the person who beat her up didn't get in trouble. There needs to be more consequences.

Absolutley the worst elementary school I have ever seen. There is a very long story behind my thoughts but to make a long story short it comes down to them not caring at all about the students that need the extra help. It's the same old story if there's any student that is falling behind or needs the extra help it is always the parents fault and they have nothing to do with it.

This is an awesome school!!!I went there for 3 years!!All the teachers are super nice!everyone is soo kind there.

This school is great but there are to many students in one classroom. The teachers seem to overwhelmed and children are not being challenged. My daughter is in gate and not all the students in her classroom are in gate. Gate students should have their own classroom so they can be challenged more.

I think that there are too many children enrolled in Brentwood for my child to recieve a good education! My daughter is not being challenged to reach her full potential. I feel like the teacher's are overwhelmed with babysitting and not getting to teach.

Decent education if you stay on top of them I would not recommend it as a school if your child has special needs (ie resource or special education). Too many students and not enough staff.

This is a good school. It's just that they do not have a gate program for the gifted children. My daughter has to bounce between class rooms to get the education that she needs. It's been kind of hard for her juggleing the diffrent class rooms but they say it's the only way.

Good parent involvement is the key to this being a good school. When parents show concern for what's going on in school and support their kids their kids will benefit by being more motivated to learn and by being more courteous and respectful.

Brentwood Elementary is a very good school academically. The staff is very personable and the teachers that I have encountered have been knowledgable and very nice. There are very little extracurricular activities in which I would like to see more. The only real problem that I have encountered is with the proctors.

2nd week of school and this school needs to get their act together! Very disorganized staff non-secure drop off and pick up process very overloaded classrooms! This school needs to keep up with the growth of it's community to ensure the education for the children is of quality...not just offered. It seems this school concentrates more on it's discipline plans than anything else! Very dissatisfied parent!

Brentwood has been a great place for my children to get excited about reading. They have great programs such as Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math that allow them to work at their own pace. Also the teachers seem to work well together and enjoy being there. The only concern now is that the school is becoming too overcrowded. The playground is limited and classes are overfilled. The staff does their best however.

I love this school! My three children have all attended and have excelled academically. The staff members are kind and well trained in their individual fields. There are alot of parents involved which helps things to run even smoother. The school offers a music class highly encourages students to participate in science fair young authors art club and offers their own chess club for k-parents. The school also recognizes the GATE program.

An excellent school we have been with them for 8 years unfortunately they are getting very crowded. Excellent teachers caring staff has felt more like a family than a school in the past.

Brentwood elementary school is a great school. I have 3 girls thst go to this school and they enjoy every bit of it. I would recommend this school to everyone. My girls are learning a whole lot in the great school. I have a 1st 2nd 5th grader and when my son turns the age for kindergarten he will also be going to this wonderful school. Even if it means I have to drive a ways. This school is so wonderful so if you haven't try it yet give it a try and I can honestly say you won't regret it cause I sure don't.

I have two children going to Brentwood overall it was a pretty good school there were times when I thought the teachers gave too much homework and what was being taught was above the grade level. I do think if they choose to achieve higher learning what is needed is tutors or at least a easier grading curve. Learning for some children doesn't come as easy as it does for others. Things such as the C.A.T test can't possibly be able to test everyone's ability with the same test. I also think oral testing should also be half of grade learning for those who do better orally then written. Gives a better chance for the students. Then we all achieve!

I think that Brentwood Elementary is a wonderful school that have teachers that know how to involve their students. Everyone that work at this school is like a friend or a family for your kids and they do the best for them. They also make the kids feel happy and safe. The Principal is also involve in the kids education with a lot of program that make the kids do their best.
