California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

DO NOT send your child to this school my son started this school in 2nd grade highly above average as indicated by california standardized testing and is leaving this school going to 4th grade now at average over the summer we will be brushing up on the skills that this school failed to provide and foster disgusted

DIsorganized! This stems from the principle lack of leadership dis-organization and poor judgement. As stated in other reviews the princple only has her "pet" teachers in her best interest fund raisers 2nd and the children last. There are a handful of great teachers but just as many poor teachers. They also allow family members of current teachers as well as the principles mother to sustitute the classes. The school is just poorly managed which is unfortunate for a school that has so much potential.

This is my son's first year at this school. He came from a school where he was bullied by both his teacher and some of the students. So this school is definitely a big jump from there. So far things are okay. The school is very clean and the principal seems dedicated. Many of the teachers seem a little detached however. I've found that his current teacher has very short patience. I thought this was a little odd as a 4th grade instructor. I understand that teaching children is a challenge and I do acknowledge my son's lack of attention. But he's come a long way from his school last year. Teachers kept quitting or getting laid off there and my son's class had 6 teachers within one year.

Windsor Hills is the best elementary school in LAUSD. The teachers and staff are pleasant and overextend themselves to parents and the children. The teachers go above and beyond to teach students and they do a great job with the home -school connection. The students are well behaved and respectful and that is a reflection of the teachers and parents influence on them. Keep up the great work!

YES I AGREE WITH ALOT OF THESE REVIEWS THE PRINCIPAL DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS I THINK SHE ONLY CARES ABOUT GETTING A PAY CHECK AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL TEACHERS SAY SHES NOT GOOD AT ALL MAYBE IF THEY GET RID OF HER AND BRING SOMEONE WHO CARES ABOUT OUR KIDS AND NOT JUST ABOUT CERTAIN TEACHERS IT WOULD BE BETTER.AND SHES A BIT RUDE AND I DONT LIKE THAT AT ALL.....

This school use to be a great school four years ago when my children joined the school but now is a joke. What some of the teachers care is to sell CANDY in school everyday year round in the name of fundraising. This make kids want to bring money to school everyday. My child was being bullied by a student for not bringing money to school to buy CANDY.

I find the school excellent as well as the teachers and the principal. This is my childs ist year and he's loving it.It breaks my heart to leave but its because of family matters.I really dont know how to tell him that hes not coming back here.He had a great experienced academically and socially. He also found a best friend who is a very well mannered boy.I love this school.

This school is poorly run. The principal only cares for her teachers not the students. I had one meeting with her in which she showed up 35 minutes late offered no apologies to me but apologized to the teacher. The lady who works in the front office has POOR people skills and ALWAYS seems bothered when a parent has a question. I hear a lot of foul language on they playground with teachers being within earshot but no one says anything. Some of the teachers seems to only be concerned about their check and not our children's education. After speaking with parents before the bell rings in the morning I learned that a lot of parents stay because they want to be sure their child is supervised because there is ABSOLUTELY NO yard supervision. This school is poorly run and my child WILL NOT be returning next year.

This school is a reflection of budget cuts and seemingly poor interest by the principal. It is disorganized the administration is openly hostile and act as if concerned parents are bothering them. There is no real yard supervision and the kids are running wild. The principal never returns phone calls and does not acknowledge requests for meetings. My son has not learned very much there he is practically home school and will not be returning there next year which is a shame since we are trying to support the local public school.

My son will be in the 2nd grade in September. His Pre-K teacher Ms. West was outstanding. Kinder. was very good. It just keeps getting better as far as the teachers. His 1st grade teacher Ms. Macasero knows her subjects how to treat her children with respect and how to get the very best out of her students. I t is obvious that she cares about her students succeeding and she loves her career as a teacher. There should be more teachers like Ms. Macasero in the District. I would recommend all of the past teachers to any parent.

I have a son who just graduated from Kindergarten. His teacher Mr. Pratt was very caring and kept parents informed. In my opinion he went above and beyond the call of duty. The afterschool program called The Study Institute is amazing. The staff is extremely caring and really care about the kids. Overall I am happy my son is attending Windsor Hills and would highly recommend this school.

I had two extremely different experiences at Windsor Hills. The principal was of no help. I finally stopped trying with Windsor Hills and removed my children.

My daughter graduated from the 5th grade at Windsor Hills Math/Science/Aerospace Magnet in 2007. She has attended since the 1st grade. In all I would say her teachers have been very helpful and communicates well with parents and children. The school is well maintained. I will miss Windsor Hills.

My daughter has attended this school since kindergarten she will be graduating in June I must say that I am extremely proud her and it is because of the fine quality of teachers and leadership here at this school. I would recommend this school to any parent seeking enrichment in your child's education and not to mention discipline and safety. Me and my daughter are happy with this school and they have prepared her with the necessary tools for middle school

I have two children enrolled in this school one in the fourth grade and one in the first grade. This school is wonderful. The teachers and staff are all very knowledgeable and caring. My children have soared greatly in all areas and have received nearly perfect test scores. I highly recommend this school.

My child has attended this school for two years. I love the parent teach involvement and the oppurtunities that this school allows the children to be apart of. I have had nothing but good experiences all the way around. Mrs. Crowe the principal is a lovely person and has an open door policy. My son experienced the Washington DC trip for the fifth graders and he had a wonderful experience. I would like to thank the teachers and parents for making this such a wonderful experience for me and my child.
