Absolutely love this school. Both my children went here all the way through elementary school. It had a great staff and the most parent involvement of any school in the area! What a great elementary school experience we had!

My son and eldest daughter went here. Now my youngest daughter is here and the quality of the school has gone downhill. There is NO discipline in this school. The kids are allowed to run roughshod over the administrators and teachers. The lunchroom is chaotic and loud. I stopped having lunch with my daughter because you can't even talk to your kid because the screaming and yelling all with the Principal in there. I can't wait till my daughter goes to middle school and I don't have to come here anymore. The sugary sweetness of the admins betrays the morale of this school. The staff is miserable here as are the kids it seems. It isn't a very helpful learning environment when there is no consequences to actions. When my older kids went here there were more strict Principals that would not allow the shenanigans that go on now. Punishment was expected for bad behavior. There are no longer silent lunch tables in the lunch room for the more obnoxious rule violators. Heavens! We may hurt someone's feelings by showing good order and discipline. I bet the test scores go down at this school. The learning environment is too distracting and miserable teachers equals a school in decline

I have had children in Quail Run Elementary for six years. I have been VERY pleased with our experience here. Infact it was one of the top reasons we bought our home in this area. The leadership honestly cares about the students. The staff welcomes parents warmly and parent support is massive. I would like to comment to one of the negative reviews. My son has had a terrific experience in Mrs. Donna Smith's third grade classroom. I am sorry that another parent/child felt otherwise. I had read this review and was nervous to hear my son had been assigned to her classroom. But my fears quickly changed to a grateful excitement that he was in her care. The night before "greet the teachers" she personally called our home to welcome us and introduce herself - never had that happen before! She has required consistent nightly reading and homework. And my son has risen to her terrific expectations. She explains in writing why the student missed any points on assignments and models the right way to help the student learn. I have rarely seen such a devoted teacher. No school is perfect but we have been very happy to send our children here! )

I would like to comment on the post from June 12 2010. Donna Smith is a fabulous teacher! She is patient committed to her students and creates a wonderful classroom environment. My daughter had Mrs. Smith in Pre-K and loved her class!

My son's experience in Donna Smith's 3rd Grade class was profoundly damaging to him. She allowed him to be picked on refused to give him appropriate accomodations and made his life as miserable as possible every day of the school year. She would promise to take appropriate action but then not follow through.

Seems like all schools these day teach to one thing only and that is the state standardized test ie in georgia the crct...What happen to teaching subject matter and letting the chips fall.....Rate 2

If you had bothered to check the curriculm for the entire state of Georgia you would know that all third graders learn the same information! You make it sound like only Quail Run Elementary is the only school where the students learn about these famous americans. Each grade level learns about different historical figures in different historical periods. Check your facts!

I was very displeased with my child's education at this school. The given curriculum was augmented with other outside learning that I find very disturbing. For instance the third graders had to learn about famous people in American history. It turns out that these famous people are limited to women and minorities (Thurgood Marshall Susan B. Anthony Cesar Chavez etc. etc.) While no one is discounting the important contributions these people have made to our society and no one is discounting the importing contributions these people have made I find it highly suspect that they are not learning about other activists or important people in contemporary American History -- Ralph Nader Upton Sinclair Dr. Jonas Salk Steve Wozniak Neil Armstrong. I find this as reverse discrimination and we're teaching our young children to hold these activists in higher esteem than some of our Presidents? What has this world come to?

Awesome school. My son went to QRE from 2nd grade through 5th and he loved this school. His grades improved with each year and he had the greatest teachers one could ask for. The Administration faculty and staff are the best in the county. The lunchroom staff are welcoming and friendly too. It is just an amazing incredible school and I am so happy my son was lucky enough to be a Quail Run Cub. Dr Rizer and Dr Thomas are the best!

Quail Run is a great school. It has one of the highest parent involvement of schools in Houston County. I haven't found a teacher that wasn't a good one. I wouldn't want my children to go to any other Elementary school.

The school is very student and parent oriented. The administration is involved in the daily events of the school. The principal and vice know most of the children by name and are very visible throughout the day. Great School!

I was very displeased with my child's experience at this school. The given curriculum was addressed using only traditional teacher techniques which didn't allow for critical thinking from students. If you expect a progressive approach to your child's learning I suggest you conference with the administration to find a teacher that is willing to try new approaches. It is more important that my child learns to think and problem solve not just pass a test or design something cute for the hallway. Meaningful instruction develops successful students.
