New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK)

In 2011-2012 New Jersey used the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in language arts literacy and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in science. The NJ ASK is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New Jersey. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Communication and efforts to make your child an excellent student and above expectations here at Edison. My daughter is in her 1st term here and I've have an overwhelming response from her teachers in the blue teams on improving any unacceptable grade. My daughters science grade went from a C to an A.. What more can I ask for. Wonderful Mr Fitzpatrick and staff.

My son had a wonderful year in Edison. All his teachers in the Orange team were very good. The HAP program is outstanding. The assistant principal is devoted and eager to help with any problem. Very happy.

I am a previous student from this school and looking back I realize how badly I dreaded coming to school. This faculty members were very kind but some were not good teachers. The kids in my grade were horrible; always breaking the rules and they were quite mean. The amount of bullying in the school was atrocious. I'm quite glad I moved to a different town because the school has better students and much better teachers.

Poor. My child has two poor teachers this year in key subjects and has not learned in these classes. When I raised concerns at a meeting with the teachers and guidance counselor my concerns were dismissed. As a result I will have to pay for tutoring so that my child can learn over the summer what she should have learned this year. Before coming to this school my child was a highly motivated student who loved school and at Redwood brought home mostly "A" grades with a "B" now and then. After her experience at Edison she now actively dislikes school.

My second son just finished his year at EMS. My oldest is an honors student at WOHS and my youngest is a high achiever heading to LMS. I cannot say enough about the Central Sixth Principal Fitzgerald Asst. Principal Melendez the teachers and staff. A wonderful experience for our children!

My son attended Edison Central Sixth Middle School during the 2007-2008 school year and my daughter will attend this year. This school is unique because all students are sixth graders. It was a wonderful way to experience the freedoms and responsibilities that are so important in the middle school environment while keeping young students under the close watchful eyes of the talented and dedicated teachers and administration.

This is my daughter's second month in the school. So far I can say that she's exploring middle school in a sheltered environment. And that's reassuring to me as a parent.

This school is so wonderful. It has gave my child the full potential of his middle school education.
