My three kids have been in this school for 5 years now. This is a great school. No school is ideal but this school has lots to offer. I like the fact that the principal of this school dresses so professionally. This sets the dress code for the teachers and the students. Each year this school keeps getting better and better.

We recently relocated from NYC to West Sacramento. The most overwhelming task was trying to find the best school for our child. In our prior school my child had to deal with bullying their for selecting the right school was very important. Not just any school would do as we had our list of concerns. And our prayers were answered and blessed with Bridgeway. The school has an excellent Principal & Asst. Principal and express no nonsense policy on bullying. Each of my daughter's teachers have been supportive and helpful to each of us as a family not just our child. They all have websites keeping us abreast to each wks lesson plans. Weekly emails letting you know on class happenings. My daughter a shy student is now part of many extra curricular activities joined the volleyball team participating in school talent show. Bridgeway has excellent teacher/staff strong principal/school leadership and challenging academic programs. The school's PTO also invaluable in helping us and our child connect to the student body and teachers. As a military family we have seen our share of schools and none like Bridgeway.

Bridgeway Island Elementary School is the best elementary school in West Sacramento. Lead by Principal Grace Chin the teachers and staff are second to none. Having successful students is top priority. They're given the tools to do their very best. Teachers are willing to give up their time to help all students whenever needed. They continue to provide extracurricular activities such as sports band theater a recycle club and others to keep the students interested in their own education. The PTO helps provide assistance with whatever the school needs. There is a terrific feeling of "community" at this school. There's no reason why any student attending this school wouldn't be excelling.

The teachers and staff are wonderful. They care about each student and want everyone to achieve their goals. The only suggestion is to have cleaner bathrooms.

I don't know why I overlooked this school. Originally sending my child to a neighborhood private school where each year the tuition went up and the principal's attitude plummeted down. We couldn't take it anymore and made the switch to Bridgeway. What a Difference!! My child in engaged and the curriculum is at a much higher level than the private school. Teachers push kids to always give their best and holds them accountable for their choices. The principal Mrs. Chin is what finally sold me. She is on top of it. Comes out to greet the children and the parents. She holds informational coffee time and attends PTO meetings. She makes herself available and doesn't hide behind "pre-determined answers to questions given beforehand or an attitude of 'because that was my choice' " which I experienced in the other school. Great community environment and good kids. Go Bridgeway Bees!

Bridgeway is such a great school both our kids enjoy their teachers this year. Many of the teachers are so involved and have great communication skills! One of the only fallbacks is lack of field trips (that all other schools take). We are happy to know our kids will have lasting friendships from bridgeway.

I am so glad my boys now go to their neighborhood school. They used to go to another school that I had to drive them to when we had a wonderful school 2 minutes away! My second grader is actually excited to do homework and tell me what he did during his day (a big change). Ms. Kugler is very kind but firm with the kids and very energetic and excited to teach them. My older son likes the fact that the classes and halls aren't packed like his old school. Bridgeway is great!

This is our 7th year at Bridgeway Island Elementary School. All 3 of my children go there now and we had nothing but great teachers. They are very dedicated to the children spend a lot if extra time to help them out when needed. The principal has improved this school immensely over time and our PTO after some beginners struggles in the first few years of the school is adding outstanding improvements and activities to the school. Including a lot new shade structures made out of solar panels and a new "garden" for educational purpose. Love this school. And I know there are a lot more ideas and projects that need some funding in the future.

It really is a community of caring wonderful people who want the best for their students. One of the reasons we chose this school is because of the high standard of excellence.

I have two students who attend Bridgeway and we have been a Bridgeway family for six years. Even though Bridgeway is a very large K-8 school we have always felt that our children have received an excellent education with caring teachers and administration. Academics are a priority at Bridgeway and the API has steadily increased every year. This reflects students' and teachers' respect for the educational system and the seriousness with which everyone treats academics. My children are high achievers and have been continually challenged. We have never had a complaint with any of the teachers we have had and feel that Mrs. Chin the principal hires quality teachers and expects the best from her staff and students.

We love this school!!! The principal Mrs. Chin is amazing and keeps her students parents & teachers accountable. They are always improving areas great parent involvement and the teachers are excellent. My son transferred from parochial school in 3rd grade and his transition was practically seamless. Thank you Bridgeway!

My two children have been attending Bridgeway Island elementary since kindergarten. My eldest in now in 7th! So we've been around a long time. I am very pleased with the education my children are recieving. Mrs. Chin our school principal is very driven and passionate about helping our kids succeed. Thus she expects nothing less from the staff she brings in. Our teachers are educated competent motivated and genuine. I haven't had a teacher I had issues with. They are all wonderful and I'm grateful for their dedication. Bullying is always an issue with students. My children have experienced a few incidents. However it has always been handled efficiently and effectively by administration and the teachers. I recently attended Back to school night and was pleased to hear that the school has implemented Structured Play during recess to control bullying. This prevents the instigators from starting trouble and reinforces comradery amongst the students. What a great idea! Of course there's always room for improvement but it's comforting to know Mrs. Chin and her staff are always striving to make things better for our kids. I would not send my kids anywhere else.

The best school in the district. The teachers we have had for both of our children have been great. Our kids are both excelling and the top of their classes. The administration responds to any of our concerns in a timely manner.

Great leadership dedicated teachers and involved parents! I choose this school over a charter school and private school. The API compares to other local school districts such as Davis Folsom and Elk Grove. I started emailing the principal prior to my children starting at Bridgeway island and she not only responded but invited my husband and me in for a meeting! I couldn't be happier with our decision in choosing this school for our children.

Bridgeway Island Elementary School has a great caring staff - from the principal teachers yard duties cafeteria staff secretary. They truly want each child to thrive and succeed. The school recently went green and is engaging our children in the importance of doing our part to help the environment. They are also really proactive in encouraging healthy eating by providing fruit/veg options during lunch as well as a "walk/bike to school" program. I look forward to many more years at this school for my two young daughters!

This school is one of the best in the area. The class sizes are low and the teaching staff are excellent. Lots of parent involvement and kudos to Ms. Chin.

School is located in an area of mostly newer suburban homes post 2000. West Sacramento has become a very diverse community and the student population at Bridgeway Island reflects that. Both my children (grades 3 & 7) have been at this school since Kindergarten. There has been minor typical school communication mishaps but we are very grateful and happy with the administration and teachers for their performance. Some parents opined that they do not always feel informed of school happenings. This is understandable these days with many families with both parents working. But all events at the school seem to be fully attended which means they care. For this reason I decided to join the Parent Teacher Organization in hopes helping to improve communications and the feeling of being connected as a school community.
