California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Well I have to say Johnson M.S is the best school around. I use to think Johnson was a horrible school. I then moved to another school in the Garden Grove District. I realize that "hey Johnson isn't that bad of a school" it was way better than the new school I'm in right now. The teachers at Johnson are nice they comfort their students and they know how to teach not like the teachers in the Garden Grove District. The Garden Grove District teachers blame their student that they can't learn..but on my opinion they can't teach..Johnson is the BEST!

I see there hasn't been a post for quite some time. My daughter who is now 16 and my son 12 both attended Johnson. They are wonderful students and never had problems. Maybe all these students having problems are the ones needing to be looked at? PARENTS are a big problem here. MOST parents here need to step up and follow through with their kids education.

Yeah I agree with you. Johnson is a good place for education. Their staff and teachers do better jobs than I think before. If your children don't do well don't complain their school ask yourself ...

It always amazes me that people do not understand our system of education. Do parents understand that it is necessary that they do their job and follow through with their student? The school cannot do it alone. Johnson does every program to help parents know what is going on. they have their website snapgrades (which is up to date) e mail voicemail and more. ZAP is also there to give students more time for homework. Parents need to help too. Johnson is a great school for all students.

Johnson Middle School is NOT a dirty or unsafe campus! It is clean safe and the teachers work very hard to help all students succeed. You shouldn't have your cell phone at school to be stolen. This school provides more opportunity and technology than any other school in the area.

Johnson Middle School is (in my opinion) a very good school! Most of the teachers are nice and you can get along easily with most everyone. I recommend this school to everyone and since this is my first year I'm happy to have 2 more years at this awesome and fun school!

to Joy Goodwin you may be impressed now but i think you will notice that they have no follow through and will not alert you to any thing you need to know. bad grades no conferences scheduled promises that even when the v.p. steps in he doesn't do a darn thing. If your child has problems maybe joined a gang tagging attitude grades...etc...good luck being informed. Oh yeah and snapgrades is a joke!! rarely ever kept up on always incorrect and not current. The influences in this school are out of control and getting worse. They can not pass the testing requirements and so every year they lose more funding as a punishment. Little to know field trips except a hike. Free of course! My child qualified for free tutoring to help her pass this testing they lagged for 5 months even with constant calls from me. yuck

I am currently a student as Johnson Middle School. The teachers are not a problem at all in my opinion. Some students might dislike them though. This school is not 'above average'. I think that the school has disciplinary issues. There is fighting stealing and other strange issues. Some have been very recent especially stealing. They do not punish students harshly enough. The education is fine. But I suggest if you don't feel safe about the consequences of this school I suggest you make it possible for your child to attend a different school.

I am a student at Johnson Middle School and I really love the atmosphere. Most of the teachers are really nice.

For those of you who are wishing to attend Johnson Middle School DON'T GO!! Wherever you go you will ALWAYS see trash and liter around. It's an unclean and disgusting campus with THE WORST OF THE WORST students. Stealing happens too often and it's an unsafe enviroment. I've experienced my cell phone getting stolen by another student and so have most of my friends. If you want to go to such an undisciplined school I can't stop you. But I promise you you will suffer if you go to Johnson Middle School.

I am a student at Johnson M.S. and I find it to be unchallenging and far too lenient. There is overall not enough authority upon the staff and variety of after school activities available and it's honestly one of the worst I've ever been too.

My child currently attends Johnson Middle School as a new student to the district. I have to say that I am very impressed with both the Vice-principal and well as the principal. The office staff is also very helpful and friendly. I am also impressed with the way they take care of the students. I have a big worry about how much weight my child carries in her back pack. Here they send a copy of all the books home with the student before school starts and they don't come back till the end of the year thus eliminating backpack issues and the children forgetting their books. Their pe clothes are priced well and they try to limit spending on school supplies. I am throughly happy with this school.

I know that when we moved into the Westminster School district my family heard many different 'reviews' of all of the schools within the district...some of them true and many of them NOT true. I did my research and checked and compared all the API scores etc. but it was when I physically went and toured 3 different schools that I made my decision. It was the best decision I have made in my son's academic course sending him to Johnson Middle School. Test scores aside the principal Mr. Patterson should be cloned not to mention the teacher envolvement and the positive attitude on campus everyone truly shows respect effort and pride at this school! All of the staff at Johnson Middle School really are an example as to what we need in our children's lives they are truly modeling for the children who attend this school.

This school is great and the staff makes every student feel at home. I personally go here and I can tell you that your child will have a great time both before during and after school. Johnson had improved on its CAT 6 score with a total of a 44 point jump. That is amazing and deserves a pat on the back.
