A stipulation in a loan agreement that gives the lender the right to speed up the rate at which the loan comes due or even to demand immediate payment of the entire balance of the loan should a borrower miss payments or break terms of the loan agreement.
Most loans have an acceleration clause and it's usually used when a buyer assumes a seller’s mortgage and monthly payment schedule.
