Choosing the Right Home

When buying a home in Chicago, it is not only important that you check out the neighborhood, proximity to schools and workplace and even the amenities. You should make sure that you are actually buying the right kind of home that best suits your present and future needs as well as your preferences and budget.

Basically, there are four types you can choose from. These are:

  1. New Home – if you have the money to spend on a new home, then there are plenty of advantages that you will enjoy. For starters, you will not need to spend on repairs or any renovation since everything is brand new. Before buying this type of home, you should make sure that you have done your homework. It is very important that you check the reputation of the builder and their work history.
  2. Existing Home – These homes are also referred to as used properties. Compared to new homes, they will probably need some repair work or some renovation especially if you want to add some personal touches. These homes are usually sold based on their current market value although there is always room to negotiate with the seller.
  3. Fixer Upper – If you are buying a home for investment, one of these fixer uppers might be the right choice. You must understand that these fixer uppers will require a lot of work but their return potential is quite amazing.
  4. Foreclosed Home – Properties repossessed by mortgage lenders are referred to as Chicago foreclosure homes. Buyers looking to enjoy great savings consider these properties to be ideal. In most cases, asking prices for these Chicago bank foreclosures are often based on the amount of mortgage owed by the previous owner plus foreclosure cost.
