Overview
Craigslist.com offers online local classifieds and forums in more than 450 cities worldwide. It is community-moderated and largely free (free to post any item for sale and free to use the service). Craigslist receives more than 5 billion page views per month and is one of the top 10 most visited sites on the web.
It's important to note that Craigslist does not rely on broker or MLS feeds for its data. As an agent or broker interested in advertising your properties on Craigslist, you will need to upload them yourself. Posting a home for sale on Craigslist is free with the exception of New York City (where the fee is $10 per posting). For more information on how to post your listings to Craigslist, visit http://seattle.craigslist ... /how.html.
The customer experience on Craigslist is very straightforward. Visitors to Craigslist first select the city they would like to search. From that city page, visitors can then select the type of classified ads they would like to search. Among the options a Craigslist user will see is "real estate for sale." Clicking on this link then takes a user to a page that displays all real estate for sale within that city that has been uploaded to Craigslist. Users can enter search criteria, such as number of bedrooms and baths or neighborhood, to further refine their classified search results. Results are generally displayed in the order in which they were posted; the most recently posted listings that match the search criteria will appear first. If an agent or broker has posted listings to Craigslist, this is where they will appear.
Advertising Options and Rates
Craigslist does not currently offer any advertising solutions to agents or brokers. Craigslist's value is as a free listing tool for increased exposure and marketing of homes for sale.
