Home Buyer Questionaire

So you are in the housing market, but are not certain where you want to go, what you want to buy, how much you can afford, and when all of this is going to take place. Here are some things to think about:

1. Find a lender. Get pre-qualified and see what kind of loan program fits you best. That way when you start the process, you will know how much you can afford and how much it will take you to buy a house. Remember: lenders charge you money to loan you money.

2. Next, find a real estate agent. Why? Most realtors know more about the process of buying and selling homes than you do. If you are new to town, you may be familiar with the process, but you do not know the local market. All real estate markets are local in nature.

3. Identify the things that are important to you in a home:

  • price
  • location
  • condition (Can you handle a fixer-upper?)
  • type of home you are interested in: patio, condo, 2 story, ranch, home with acreage
  • number of bedrooms and bathrooms
  • specific features: waterfront, garage size, workshop, garden, pool, etc.
  • schools

Once you have made these decisions, go to work and find your house!!!!
