When you purchase a new home, there's so many things to remember to do, don't let changing the locks be one of them.
It's a good idea to do this because you never know who may have a key. Sometimes, the previous owner did not change the locks adding to the "Who has a key to my home" worries. It's just too dangerous these days to take a chance. We read and hear about the crime rate in our area everyday. Let's not be a statistic. It's just good common sense.
Also, you don't have to change the hardware itself, you can ask a locksmith to re-key the lock if need be. So you've remember the utilities, you've rented the moving van, stop by the hardware store and pick up some new locks.
