Rachel Carson EcoVillage, Pittsburgh region’s first ecovillage, is a new residential neighborhood designed around a timeless idea: building a community. The ecovillage will have 35 private homes nestled in the woods on 8 acres of mature and secondary growth forest. The community is designed to preserve as much of the tree canopy as possible, and to protect the most ecologically diverse areas of forest, intermittent streams, and wetlands.
