There are many things to like, but two standout: location and affordability. The Leisure Lake Co-op, where my home is located, is very close to shopping, grocery stores, gas, and restaurants. Downtown Palmetto is less than a mile away. It is also close to walking and biking paths, parks, including a dog park, and local beaches. The weather is usually conducive for any outdoor activity. The house itself is located in the park’s pet section, which allows for two animals. As this section is smaller than the rest of the park, it has a more ‘village vibe.’ Park activities, of which there are many, and amenities, including a large clubhouse, laundry facilities, library, fitness center, pickleball and other playing courts, are within a short walking distance from the home. Living here is also very affordable. The electric bill is usually about $53.00 a month. All appliances are electric and include refrigerator, stove, washer, and dryer, and stand-alone air conditioner/heater on the lanai. As Leisure Lake is a co-op, shareholders have some control over HOA fees. Currently at $212 monthly, it includes water, sewer, garbage removal, and lawn maintenance. Property taxes are also very affordable for this home, especially once Homestead and the senior discount are applied. All of the above make this home enjoyable, convenient, and affordable.
