This property has been in my family for nearly 60 years. In that time, its 53.5 acres have constantly been improved and updated with additional buildings, equipment, and technology to help make running it easier, more fun, and not to mention more beautiful. If you have been looking for somewhere peaceful and secluded, connected to nature, yet not impossibly far from town…you have found it. This property is just over half an hour from Brandon, Jackson, Madison and Canton, and is just ten minutes from the town of Morton. The centerpiece of the property is without a doubt the 2-story craftsman style cabin, which is situated at the edge of a 3-acre springfed lake. Built in the late 1990s, this cabin echoes the beauty of nature and unique features only the care of hand-built skill can bring, but also maintains modern touches of updated appliances, fiber internet and sleek lines in its architecture. At just over 1250 square feet, this cabin is best designed for a couple or a couple with one child. The first bedroom, full bathroom, large closet and storage areas are all located in an area that can be separated from the rest of the house by an accordion door and which has its own separate entrance door. This opens into the kitchen, bar and dining area, with access to the back deck with views of the lake and the 400 sq ft pergola garage out back. A wood stove for heat in the winter (or wall-mounted electric heaters) leads you to the spacious family room/den. Climb a handsome spiral staircase to the master loft and full bathroom. Also on the property are two large sheds, one with a large workroom, and a smaller storage shed. There is also a large, well-secured aviary. There are two screened gazebos positioned at different points on the lake for relaxing and taking in the view. Trails and springs wind throughout the property, half of which is old-growth forest, and the other half has been historically used as timber land, currently in its 8th year of natural reclamation. There is a wealth of natural beauty there, native wildlife and plants are always nearby and put on stunning shows all year long.
What the owner loves about this home
My absolute favorite thing about this property is the peace it affords you and the connection to nature you gain just from taking a walk around it. It's has a very unique ecosystem that makes it a park unto itself, and even to this day I'm finding new things there, or rediscovering things I haven't seen in many years. Having fiber internet out there keeps you well-connected to the world, however; and being centrally located for weekend trips to such lovely places as Memphis, the Gulf Coast and New Orleans is really convenient for the times you feel like reconnecting back to big city life...with many smaller cities much closer.
