The BUILDER 2020 concept home, Chowa, was built by Woodside Homes and its parent company, Sekisui House. The open-concept design focuses on providing large gathering spaces, and a separate flex space can be used for recreation, a home office or as a live-in suite for extended family.

This home is the first of its kind in the U.S., and each piece of the post-and-beam frame was cut in a zero-waste facility in Japan. Once it arrived on-site, no additional manufacturing was needed — every piece fit into place. Not only was construction time drastically reduced, but the home is square to within millimeters.

Zillow created a digital listing which highlights the features of the home and its surrounding community.

Home features

In addition to the cutting-edge design and construction, the home is outfitted with a suite of smart features and energy-efficient appliances.

Delos recessed air-quality sensors and a Panasonic Cosmos™ Healthy Home System monitor air quality and quickly deliver fresh air into any rooms where impurities are detected. Solar panels on the roof and an interior battery bank mean the home can produce more energy than it consumes.

Other smart features, like voice-activated faucets and entertainment systems, make everyday tasks simpler and easier.

Listing best practices

Zillow's digital listing demonstrates many of the best listing practices to help win over buyers, including high-resolution photos, engaging descriptions and community information like parks, recreation and education. In addition, this listing uses health and wellness keywords — terms our research has shown can positively affect listing price, likes or net favorites. Some of our findings include:

  • New construction listings with terms around lighting, sound and well-being listed for $9 more per square foot than the typical new construction home in August 2019.*
  • Homes with terms related to water quality received over 20% more likes, on average, than listings without such terms.*
  • Homes with terms related to air quality resulted in 14% more likes than those without.*
