Among several home types that buyers consider, more than a third (38%) include new construction on their list, but only 11% ultimately purchase a new construction home. Zillow commissioned a study with Growth from Knowledge (GfK) to better understand the barriers and pain points on a buyer’s path to a new construction home. We discovered that their relationship with the builder can either make or break the new construction home-shopping process.

To be on the winning side, builders need to do three key things:

  1. Be accommodating
  2. Be informative
  3. Be transparent
