Warm Up to Fall With Outdoor Resident Events

Fall is still a great time to throw a resident event.Just because the lazy, hazy days of summer are behind us doesn’t mean it’s time to head indoors … yet. Take advantage of the changing seasons and give your residents an excuse to put on a sweater, head outdoors and enjoy your community.

Here are some fall-centric event ideas to help your residents kick off the season.

Be the apple of your residents’ eye

In many parts of the country, early fall means apples. Serve up an apple-themed community event with apple fritters, apple chips, apple doughnuts or classic apple pie. Your residents can toast an apple cider and stay warm by the fire. Alternatively, you could host a summer send-off barbecue or welcome in the football season with a tailgate event for your local team.

Cinema under the stars

Another way to celebrate the change in seasons is to host one last outdoor movie night. Show something kid-friendly and encourage people to bring their favorite blanket to keep cozy and warm. Provide the fixings for s’mores, light a fire and let your residents make their own treats while they spend an evening relaxing outside.

If you don’t have a fire feature — or don’t want to chance a marshmallowy mess — no worries. You can create personal s’more stations for your residents with a terracotta pot, tin foil and charcoal. This video will show you how.

Warm up your next community event with a personal s'mores station for residents. It's easy to make and easy on the budget.

Fall cleanup and crafting

Instead of throwing away the leaves you cleared from the parking lot and sidewalks, host a crafting session that shows residents how to use them in decor like a wreath, collage or even a Halloween mask. After trimming dead branches around the property, set up a craft station where people can repurpose the leftover twigs to make decor pieces like drink coasters or picture frames. And, of course, no fall-themed event would be complete without a pumpkin decorating contest — followed up with delicious toasted pumpkin seeds.

Whatever resident event you put on, make sure to take photos and post them to your community’s social media pages! Looking for more inspiration, or have a fall event you want to share? Check out Zillow Group Rentals on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
