Kitchens have always been the heart of the home — for warmth, nourishment and entertainment. Zillow research proves today’s kitchen is still the star as six of the top 10 features in homes that sold for more than expected in 2017 and 2018 were high-end, chef-inspired kitchen amenities.*

It might not be worth redoing your floor plans to include trendy amenities, but if you have these features in your homes, definitely flaunt them in the listing descriptions.

Listings that mentioned a steam oven — a wall oven that steams food — earned the highest sale premium of all the keywords analyzed: 34% more than the expected sale price. The trade-off is that homes with steam ovens stayed on the market 22 days longer than similar homes in the same metro and price tier. Still, it’s clear that buyers are willing to pay more for a home with the kitchen of their dreams.

When it comes to features that sell, make sure your listing descriptions focus on kitchens designed to make the homeowner feel like a culinary rock star.
