Testing a New Premier Broker Pricing Model

Our ability to serve you as a company depends on how well we understand you and your markets.

That means listening to your feedback and grasping your pain points. It means making changes to programs on our end — changes that you find meaningful and help you grow your business.

Which is why we’ve decided to test a new payment model for our Premier Broker program called Flex Pricing.

The test, which is launching in Florida in October, will meet the need for more flexible payment options for our broker partners and introduce a “performance advertising expense” payment model.

As part of this model, participating brokers and their agents will receive a limited number of connections to home shoppers at no upfront cost. If you make a sale from a connection we deliver, a percentage of that – the performance advertising expense – is due only when the transaction closes.

The program will operate only in counties where Zillow Group has more home shoppers than Premier Agents to service these connections. Brokers interested in becoming a Flex Pricing partner are encouraged to contact Zillow Group to learn if the program is available in their market.

Why are we experimenting with this? The simple answer is we heard what our broker partners had to say. You told us that it’s sometimes disruptive to pay for advertising in advance and you would advertise more if we could change the timing of the payments.

So we dove into our data and responded by coming up with a system that helps satisfy excess home shoppers demand in markets where it exists. To be clear, when you purchase advertising through our auctions, you will still receive preference in ad delivery vs. Flex Pricing.

We see this as a win-win for home shoppers in these underserved markets and for Premier Broker clients. Prospective buyers and sellers will receive responses from our Premier Broker clients, and broker partners will be able to take advantage of a pricing system that makes sense for their bottom line.

We’ve made big strides this year in how we provide live connections between Premier Brokers and home shoppers who are ready to work with an agent. The advances in our technology platform are designed to maximize successful connections between agents and the shoppers they serve.

We never stop striving to learn how to make your business better. As we get feedback from participating brokers, we’ll continue to iterate and make changes depending on what works and what doesn’t.
