4 Home Hero Moments: How Agents Go Above & Beyond
Written by|September 30, 2019

You know what they say: If you want something done right, do it yourself. Real estate agents regularly roll up their sleeves to tackle tasks and get the job done in ways that go above and beyond for their buyers and sellers. From making homes sparkle to singing songs with toddlers, here are four home hero moments shared by the agent community.

Toddler holds a cell phone to his ear

Closing deals, one song at a time

“A seller was at the point of resigning himself to accept my buyer's very low offer after 10 minutes of indecision,” says Zillow Premier Agent Helen Snyder of Douglas, Arizona.

“ was about to sign when his toddler came in after his nap and demanded attention. I said, ‘Put the little guy on the phone, and I'll sing to him while you sign.’ Three times through ‘Eensy Weensy Spider’ and the deal was done.”

Packages piled up on a front door step

Really delivering for out-of-town clients

“I specialize in second homes/vacation homes in the Disney area,” says Dawn Marie Calo of Hollywood, Florida.

“My clients are never in the area — out of state and often out of the country,” she says. “So I am like a shipping station hub for people to have new linens, pictures, small furniture, etc., shipped to my house and transported to the new house. I often arrange for things to be put together and hung before the owners arrive. A recent client had over 100 boxes shipped from Amazon, Wayfair, Overstock, etc., to update their new home. I think the UPS guy was getting mad. Hahahaha!”

Full refrigerator with old groceries

A clean fridge for a fresh start

“My sellers were in a divorce situation, and their beautiful home had been empty for a year,” says Zillow Premier Agent Cristal Startz of Floresville, Texas.

“Just before closing we realized the fridge was full of year-old groceries,” Startz says. “My partner Colene and I rolled up our sleeves and got it sparkling clean. I may or may not have gotten a bit sick. LOL. A year is a long time for almond milk!”

New baby asleep on blue sheets

2-for-1 special: A new home, a new baby

“I took closing papers to the hospital the day before my client’s baby was born,” says Vicki Trembly of Topeka, Kansas.
