Brightwood" is a six-storey, 128-suite concrete and wood-framed building located on a lot adjacent to Killam's 274-suite Northfield Gardens. The proposed building will feature a common room, outdoor amenity terrace, fitness room, as well as ground floor commercial space which will provide an additional amenity for the site. The building is in a residential suburban community and is in close proximity to employment lands, the Manulife Sportsplex, and Conestoga Mall; the largest enclosed mall in Waterloo with 682,000 SF of retail space and an LRT station.
The building has been designed to be approximately 52% more energy efficient compared to a building of the same size constructed in accordance with the 2017 National Energy Code for Buildings through incorporation of VRF (variable refrigerant flow) technology, rooftop solar and a highly efficient building envelope.
