    What's special

    Lovely one-bedroomOriginal hardwood floorsUpgraded kitchen
Apartment 101 is a lovely one-bedroom, one floor above ground level, of an updated 1920s family-owned property. Recently renovated, this cozy unit has original hardwood floors, new double-paned & screened windows, and an upgraded kitchen with gas range/oven and disposal. The bathroom has the original 1920s bathtub & tile floor. (Images show apartment furnished by different tenants over the years who loved calling it home). This building was built in 1926 and is considered a Mission Revival architectural style. It is full of the lovely vintage character from the 1920s with updated and modern apartments. We recently renovated to bring the building up to Bay Area energy efficiency standards. The laundry room has washers and dryers with smartphone capability (no more quarters!). There is bike parking in the basement. This is a family-owned and managed building, with an on-site resident manager. We do our best to keep the building in good, clean condition and encourage community in the neighborhood. Tenants have an option to use an online "Slack" group to communicate with each other. Fantastic location: Lake Merritt is a short walk down the hill, as well as new bars and restaurants along Broadway, and very close to numerous grocery stores including Whole Foods. The Oakland Peace Center is around the corner from the building, Sound Room jazz club and Art Murmer/First Friday nearby. We are a short walking distance to buses and Bart making it quite easy to travel to San Francisco and other locations. There is also a bike share station just at the bottom of the hill. A cat is allowed; sorry no dogs. Owner pays for water & garbage/recycling/compost. Lease is one year, then month to month. One cat is accepted. Subletting is not permitted. Three person maximum occupancy.

Zip code 94611 spans Oakland’s Montclair, Upper Rockridge, and the Piedmont Avenue corridor, where redwood-lined hills meet a lively village-and-avenue scene. Expect a mild, sunny Mediterranean microclimate with cool evenings; weekends draw neighbors to Joaquin Miller and Redwood Regional for bay views, hiking, and biking, while Montclair Village hosts a bustling Sunday farmers market. Piedmont Avenue blends history and flavor—Fentons Creamery, Commis, Timeless Coffee, and Piedmont Grocery sit near the Olmsted-designed Mountain View Cemetery and Julia Morgan’s Chapel of the Chimes. Daily life centers on walkable cafes, indie shops, and yoga studios, plus convenient access to Highways 13 and 24, AC Transit, and nearby Rockridge and MacArthur BART. Over the past few months, Zillow market trends show median asking rents hovering around $3,200–$3,600, with typical listings ranging from the high $2,000s for smaller flats to $5,000+ for larger hillside homes. The vibe is friendly, pet-welcoming, and relaxed, with low-key evenings on patios and neighborhood wine bars.
