Property manager arrived late looking like she had just taken 8 large hits of crack cocaine. She walked past the front door, spun around twice, then doubled back to the door. The door did not have a lock on it. We proceeded upstairs and she asked about my job, which I’ve been at for 7 years, and was overly impressed by the amount of time I’ve been there. She inquired about my credit score (733) and when I provided her with this info she said WOW! Again, way too excited. At this point I felt I was overqualified for the apartment. I asked if she had an exterminator and she was confused. I said I have a fear of bugs and she assured me there were no bugs. I can almost promise if she didn’t have an exterminator, there were bugs. We left and I said I’d take a rental application because I am not a rude person. She dove headfirst into the passenger seat of her 2003 Lexus RX while answering the phone to the next potential tenant. I heard a man say “oh, I can see you” and assumed this was the potential tenant. With her head still buried in a WB Mason box in her passenger seat, she replied “I can’t see you” as if the potential tenant may have been inside the box. She gave me the rental application, which was needlessly extensive, and I was on my way. 5 minutes later she called. I did not answer. Immediately afterward she texted me asking if I would like to submit the application, to which I said no thank you, and thanked her for her time. 10 minutes later she texted me asking if I could return the 1 page application to her because of the cost of ink, if I was still there. Why would I still have been there? The encounter was so strange and erratic I left faster than a barefoot jackrabbit on a hot greasy griddle in the middle of August. I told her I had left and apologized for the $0.02 tax write off. In conclusion, I have chosen to go another route entirely. This interaction turned me off landlords, apartments, and even Zillow. I will be seeing a realtor today.
