This is a fully furnished executive style home with a pool and hot tub on 1.5 acres at the end of a quiet, dead end private road in a private neighborhood. The neighborhood feels completely secluded but is only two long blocks walk to the heart of Kailua Town. The city bus stops at end of our private lane.
I am seeking a quiet professional, professional couple or adult friends wishing to work locally or remotely. It would be terrific place for a couple who is in transition to or from Hawaii. The Kaneohe Marine Base is nearby so this would also work for officers or retired officers. The United Kingdom's military has rented it the past few years for their visiting officers.
I had been hoping to do a vacation rental (since I would be able to assure quiet for my neighbors as I am often living on site) but new laws require a minimum 90 day lease. The lease could be renewable for the right tenants.
It is the perfect place to enjoy a taste of the Hawaiian countryside with two of the best beaches (Kailua and Lanikai) in the world 1.9 miles away. It is fun to walk or bike to the beach.
The property is zoned country. The house can be open air. It has huge picture windows, sliding glass doors with screens that open the house up to the outdoors and doors that open to the outside from every room!
Neighbors cannot see in, so windows are left uncovered, except in the bedrooms. The house has bedroom air-conditioners, which have rarely been used as the breeze and fans create a tropical atmosphere with comfortable natural temperature, year round.
This is the place to be if you like close access to town but true country living. The roosters may wake you up in the morning. We do have a pest control service provided free of charge, lol!
In addition to enjoying country living, you will also want to be a dog lover, as I am and typically have a dog or two with me when I am in residence. Currently I only have one.
He would not enter your private yard (unless you leave the gate open, lol), but would share the common space. And, yes, he barks when he hears or sees you because he wants to say hi and invite you to play. This behavior will cease if you are not a dog person, although I really do not think you would enjoy being here if you are not. He instinctively knows who wants to say hi (and play) and who doesn't. He gets excited to see me when I come home and barks like he has never seen me before when I go out to play with him. Currently, I only have one, since I just lost his companion. He is in training to be a service dog. This being said, we have rarely been there the past two years. But I plan to be there more often. Trying to retire, lol!
The home is completely furnished, including beach towels, and has recreational equipment for body boarding, surfing, snorkeling and back yard games. There may be a couple of bikes in our storage closet . Kailua has AWESOME beaches and hiking, all within walking and biking distance from the house. We even have a hilltop trail hike in our neighborhood.
The original home has been divided and my adult (middle aged) daughter and I reside in separate, but adjoining, quarters on the other side of the house. However, one of my goals for renting is so that the property is occupied when we are away, which is often. I live primarily on another of my properties (where I own a nursery and garden center) and go back and forth and my daughter often works off site overnight.
When in residence, we will be sharing the large part of the yard, courtyard and the solar heated pool with you. I am a single elderly (immunocompromised) female, so I do not have large parties at home. My family likes to come to swim and cookout when I am here. I am a retired professor and now own a nursery and garden center. I will be living at the nursery most of the time, since I no longer enjoy driving.
The property has security cameras in the front and back of the house but, truthfully, no one knows this private road even exists. It does not even have a name!
I do not really want to allow pets because neighbors do not like barking and I am not sure how my dog(s) would do with yours. I might entertain allowing a neutered dog over the age of 3 (preferably female as mine is male for compatability) that is a labrador retriever, golden retriever or similar breed, who has passed the canine good citizen test. My current dog is a 4 year old half lab, half golden mix. I will give preference to applicants without dogs initially.
I look forward to showing my property to you. I can show it any time. Move in could be as early as December 15. Mahalo for reading!
My home will be vacated after September 22, and will be available to be shown anytime after this, but move in date would not be until December 15.
It is completely furnished, including bedding, towels, etc. just bring your personals. Tenant pays half the electricity. All other utilities and services are paid by landlord, including: water, sewer, parking, landline phone, internet, pest control, yard service and pool service.
I basically have a no pet policy because of my dog, but would consider a dog who has passed the Canine Good Citizen Test . No smoking or illegal drugs. Quiet hours are at 9 pm. No loud parties. The larger yard and courtyard with pool are shared space. Tenants have their own small fenced back yard with a covered lanai.
Lease is short term (following Hawaii regulations) with month to month possible after that expires. On site parking and laundry is available at no charge.
