The "Artists Retreat" was originally built as a hostel for workers at the local train station, this space is ready to immerse you and your family in the traditional Ozarks experience! We are located down the road from the historic Laura Ingalls Wilder home. If you and your party are coming to visit Mansfield to have a "Little House on the Prairie" experience, this home is perfect for you. According to the history of our home, Laura used to frequent the fireplace room for regular tea parties with her group of friends. During your stay, you can get a taste of what Laura Wilder's day-to-day life was like as you drink coffee and tea with your party in the same space she used to enjoy. If you are visiting Bakers Creek Seed Company for one of their famous festivals, we are a short drive from their location. After driving down the highway for a few miles, you will drive down some gorgeous country roads for about ten minutes until you reach their store and festival site. We are a fifteen minute drive from Ava, twenty minutes from Mountain Grove or Seymour, and about ninety minutes from Branson or Fort Leonard Wood. The "Artists Retreat" was originally built as a hostel for workers at the local train station. This house was built in 1828 and is the oldest house in Mansfield. Enjoy the wonderful craftsmanship along with all the modern amenities that you need. While it has been remodeled, there are small imperfections that we will be improving as we go. The windows are old and as we progress they will be replaced. Some boards creek and the insulation is sparse in some areas. We have added a window air conditioner to one of the bedrooms to make sure it is comfortable in the summer.
