We are leaving on a 2-year sabbatical abroad, and are looking for a family to take care of our home while we are away (either one or two year rental contract). AC Transit buses to downtown SF are at the corner of our street, and the North Berkeley BART station is a 10-minute walk. The house was completely remodeled in 2008 so it is spacious, modern, and light-filled - it was featured in Trends Magazine and selected for the American Institute of Architects Home Tours in 2012. The house features a large, open-concept living room, dining room and kitchen area (with slate island, gas stove, microwave, oven, wine fridge, dishwasher, garbage disposal, etc.), a family room, 5 bedrooms, and 3 full bathrooms. There is a bamboo-enclosed front patio and a 70-year old Japanese Maple in the front yard. The welcoming back yard features a 2-level back deck, gas-connected BBQ (i.e., no propane required), two raised beds for planting vegetables, and several fruit trees (apple, lemon, fig, plum and kiwi). An unfinished basement has a washer and dryer unit as well as a second fridge and freezer, and there is ample storage under the house for wine, bicycles, luggage, and boxes.
