Block House Creek was originally used by the army in 1836 by Captain Tumlinson and his 60 men which build a "block-house" so that they could protect the settlers from indian attacks. The Historical Marker located at the entrance to Block House Creek neighborhood was placed there in 1936 by the Texas Centennial Commission to mark the area of Tumlinson?s Fort. Now the master planned community is home to over 2,200 homes, Block House Creek Elementary, kids swimming pool (tri-slide, watering mushroom and 0 degree drop-in), jr. olympic pool, basketball & tennis courts, newly added 9-hole frisbee golf, soccer, baseball/softball fields, BMX track, sand volleyball court and numerous parks throughout.
